Louise Zanella Martins

Louise Zanella has a degree in Biological Science (Gama Filho University - UGF, Brazil, 2009), Master in Science Genetics and a Ph.D. in Science Parasite biology (Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - FIOCRUZ, Brazil, 2016). She has experience in Virus Evolution and Phylodynamic. Zanella works with several public health impact viruses (HTLV, EBV, Parvovirus B19, Chikungunya, Dengue, Zika, and HIV) in phylogeny and geographic dispersion issues. During her Ph.D., she published 7 research papers with an impact factor of up to 6.5 and participated in several congresses, 5 of which were international conferences. During her Ph.D., she started working with high throughput sequencing technologies dedicated to answering biological questions using genomes and bioinformatics tools. The main themes developed are sequence quality control, trimming, assembling, and comparison of microbiome genomes; phylogeny; evolution; and phylogeography. Zanella was committed to integrating filodynamic virus knowledge with clinical and epidemiological metadata in the last three years. She has mainly used EBV, gastric cancer, and HTLV as research study models. She won 3 scientific projects as a responsible researcher. One is to study the ancestral migration of the ancient Chilean population based on HTLV-1 evolution, funded by De La Frontera University. De La Frontera University also supported the other in studying EBV evolution and phylodynamics. She is currently developing to study the Pangenome to better understand the greater predisposition of the Chilean pop to develop gastric cancer using state-of-the-art genome sequencing technologies, databases, and innovative bioinformatics tools funded by Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo. In addition, she participated in 3 research projects as a co-researcher and currently works as a co-researcher in a São Paulo Research Foundation project on the oral microbiota of twins. During her Postdoctoral, she published 14 papers with an impact factor of up to 12.
graduation at Bacharel em Ciências Biológicas from Universidade Gama Filho (2009), graduation at Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas from Universidade Gama Filho (2009), master's at Ciências Biológicas (Genética) (Conceito CAPES 6) from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2012) and doctorate at Parasitology from Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (2016). Has experience in Genetics, focusing on Molecular Genetics and of Microorganisms, acting on the following subjects: trypanosoma cruzi, diagnóstico molecular, doença de chagas, htlv-1ad and protease.
