Alessandro Bigoni

Alessandro is a Ph.D. Student in the Epidemiology Department at the School of Public Health from the University of São Paulo. While an undergraduate student, he was a sponsored exchange student at Rutgers University under the national Science Without Borders Program (2014). He graduated from the Federal University of São Paulo in 2015, where he received his bachelor?s degree in Nutrition and Public Health (2015). He was a visiting researcher at the Cancer Registry of Norway in 2018, associate researcher at the São Paulo School of Business Administration of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), and visiting researcher at the Institute for Health Policy Studies (IEPS) (2020). Currently, he is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He explores how the infrastructure of the public health system and socioeconomic factors play a role in health outcomes.

Alessandro se formou em nutrição pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (2011-2015). Durante a graduação, foi bolsista do programa Ciências sem Fronteiras na Rutgers University (2013-2014). Conquistou a posição de aluno de Doutorado Direto no departamento de Epidemiologia da Faculdade de Saúde Pública, Universidade de São Paulo (2017-). Ele foi pesquisador visitante no Registro de Câncer da Noruega em 2018, e pesquisador visitante no Instituto de Estudos em Políticas de Saúde (IEPS) em 2020. Alessandro é pesquisador associado ao grupo de estudos FGV-Saúde da Escola de Administração de Empresas da Fundação Getúlio Vargas (EAESP-FGV) e em 2020 recebeu o Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Research Award (DDRA) permitindo-o a conduzir parte de sua pesquisa como Fulbright Visiting Researcher no Department of Global Health and Population da Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (2021-). Seus trabalhos exploram como a estrutura do SUS afeta a saúde da população brasileira.
