Luiz Fernando Ferreira

I am a Linguistics and Portuguese professor at the Federal University of Roraima (UFRR). I have a degree in Linguistics and Portuguese by the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Humans Sciences of University of São Paulo. During my undergrad studies, I started working as a junior researcher to study Karitiana language, at first, without any grant. After that, I have got a FAPESP grant. I did a second junior research with a CNPq grant. Right after finishing my undergrad studies, I entered in the master degree program of the Department of Linguistics from FFLCH/USP. I continued to study the semantics of indigenous languages and I have also entered in extension projects that tried to stablish a dialogue between linguistics and education. During my Master Degree I have received grant from CAPES and I have defended in 2017 and started my Ph.D. right after that. I have finished my Ph.D. in 2022 with a CNPq grant at USP's Department of Linguistics with a CNPq grant. Between 2019 and 2020, I have been to MIT as a visiting student with a CAPES grant. The main linguistic fields I have worked with in my career are Syntax, Semantics, Pragmatics and the study of Brazilian Native Languages. During these ten years doing research, I have worked with the following subjects: Mood, Modality, Tense, Aspect, Counterfactuality, Noun phrases, Subordination, Quotative constructions and active methodologies for teaching Portuguese.

Sou professor de Linguística e Língua Portuguesa dos cursos de Letras da Universidade Federal de Roraima (UFRR). Possuo bacharelado em Linguística e Português e licenciatura em Português pela Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas da Universidade de São Paulo. Durante a graduação, fiz uma iniciação científica para estudar a língua indígena Karitiana. A princípio, essa iniciação foi sem bolsa e depois consegui uma bolsa FAPESP. Fiz uma segunda Iniciação para estudar essa mesma língua com bolsa CNPq. Logo após me graduar em 2015, entrei para o mestrado em Linguística no Departamento de Linguística da FFLCH/USP. Continuei estudando a semântica do Karitiana e também entrei em projetos de curso de extensão que estabeleciam um diálogo entre linguística e educação. Durante o mestrado, tive bolsa CAPES e defendi em 2017 entrando no doutorado logo em seguida. Terminei meu doutorado em 2022 com bolsa CNPq no Departamento de Linguística da USP. Entre 2019 e 2020, fiz o doutorado sanduíche na MIT com bolsa CAPES. Os principais campos que atuei na minha carreira são a Sintaxe, Semântica, Pragmática e o estudo de Línguas Indígenas. Durante esses 10 anos que trabalho com pesquisa linguística, trabalhei os seguintes temas: Modo, Modalidade, Tempo, Aspecto, Contrafactualidade, Coesão, Coerência, Metáforas, Sintagma nominal, Subordinação, Construções de discurso indireto e Metodologias Ativas voltadas para o ensino de português.
