EVELYN FURQUIM WERNECK LIMA holds a BA, MA, and PhD (UFRJ/EHESS). She is a Full Professor at the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro - The Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro / Post Graduate Studies Programme in Performing Arts, is a researcher for the National Council of Technological and Scientific Development (1-A CNPq) and for the FAPERJ Foundation and is a member of the Municipal Heritage Council of Rio de Janeiro. She has published a variety of articles on History of Architecture, Theatre Architecture, Cultural Heritage and Cultural History and has presented papers at international conferences in England, the Czech Republic, France, Portugal, Spain and Chile and numerous papers at national conferences. She was head of the General Department of Cultural Heritage in Rio de Janeiro (1990-1992), is the leader of the Research Group ?Theatrical Spaces Studies? and the leader of the Research Group ?Space, Memory and Urban Planning?. Lima is also the author of Contemporary Theatre Buildings and their Impacts on Cities (2022); Theatre Architecture from the Renaissance to the 21rst Century (2017), Architectures and Set Designs. Lina Bo Bardi and the Theatre (2012, with Monteiro); Architecture and Theatre: From Palladio to Portzamparc (2010 with Cardoso), From the Avant-Gardes to Tradition (2006), Architecture for Performing Arts (2000/ Brazilian Institute of Architects Award), President Vargas Avenue: a drastic surgery (1990/Architect Olga Verjovski Award). She edited Architecture, Artistic Practices, and Cultural Heritage (2022); Architecture, Theatre and Culture: Revisiting Spaces, Cities and Playwrights of the Seventeenth Century (2012), Space and Theatre (2008), Space and City (2007), among others. Lima is the Head of the Laboratory of Theatrical Spaces and Urban Memory Studies at the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Collège de France (2011), and at the Università Degli Studi di Padova (2016). She is the Coordinator and Head of the Laboratory for Theatrical Spaces and Urban Memory Studies (in the Post-Graduate Programme of Performing Arts) since 1994. She supervised nineteen Ph.D thesis and eighteen Ms.C. dissertations. Lima also directed the documentaries Industrial Heritage and Artistic Practices (2022) and Contemporary Theatre Architecture in the State of Rio de Janeiro (2017) and she was the President of the Organising Commission for eleven National Symposia and four International Conferences. Graduada em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1968), pós-graduada em Urbanismo (UFRJ-1971), mestre em Artes Visuais (UFRJ-1988), doutora em História Social (UFRJ-1997), com doutorado sanduiche na École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (CAPES-1994), pós-doutorado pela Université Paris X (CAPES-2003), Estágio Sênior no Collège de France (CNPq-2011) e Visiting Scholar em várias universidades europeias. Docente concursada da UNIRIO em 1989 e aposentada em 2020 como Prof. Titular do Centro de Letras e Artes da UNIRIO. Atua como docente permanente do PPGAC/UNIRIO e é Coordenadora-adjunta do Laboratório de Estudos do Espaço Teatral e Memória Urbana, que criou e dirigiu por 26 anos. Pesquisador 1-A do CNPq. Líder dos Grupos de Pesquisa Estudos do Espaço Teatral e Estudos de Áreas Históricas- Espaço, Memória e Projeto Urbano, cadastrados no CNPq. Cientista do Nosso Estado (FAPERJ 2021-2024; 2009-2012;1999-2002). Atua nas áreas de Arquitetura e de Artes, investigando: patrimônio cultural, história da arquitetura, arquitetura teatral, história da cidade e do urbanismo. É membro titular do Conselho Municipal do Patrimônio Cultural, do Theatre Architecture Working Group (International Federation of Theatre Research), do Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires sur le Monde Lusophone (Paris-Ouest Nanterre) e do GT História das Artes do Espetáculo da ABRACE. Foi membro titular dos Conselhos Deliberativos do CREA-RJ e do IAB-RJ. Foi Diretora Geral do Patrimônio Cultural do Rio de Janeiro (1990-1993), Assessora-Chefe do Conselho Municipal de Política Urbana do Rio de Janeiro (1993-1997) e Coordenadora da Pós-Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo do Instituto Metodista Bennett (1998-2005). Autora dos livros premiados Arquitetura do Espetáculo - Teatros e Cinemas na formação da Praça Tiradentes e da Cinelândia (UFRJ/2000) e Avenida Presidente Vargas: uma drástica cirurgia (SMC/1990 e 1995). Publicou também Edifícios Teatrais Contemporâneos (Contracapa/FAPERJ/2022), Das vanguardas à tradição (7 Letras/FAPERJ/2006). Organizou Architecture, Artistic Practices, and Cultural Heritage (Loope Editora/FAPERJ/2022); Cena, Dramaturgia e Arquitetura (7 Letras/CNPq, 2014), Arquitetura, Teatro e Cultura (Contracapa/Faperj/2012) Espaço e Teatro (7 Letras/FAPERJ/2008), Espaço e Cidade (7 Letras/FAPERJ 2004 e 2007) e Cultura, Patrimônio e Habitação (2004). Publicou em coautoria Theatre Architecture from Renaissance to the 21st Century (Unirio/CNPq, 2017), Arquitetura e Teatro (Contracapa/ FAPERJ/2010) e Entre Arquiteturas e Cenografias. A arquiteta Lina Bo Bardi e o teatro (Contracapa/FAPERJ/2012), além de inúmeros ensaios e artigos. Orientou inúmeros trabalhos de graduação e pós-graduação, dissertações (19); teses (18) e pós-doc (1). Participa de diversos Conselhos Editoriais no Brasil e no exterior. Foi editora científica da Urdimento n. 45 de dez 2022, foi editora científica da revista francesa Plural-Pluriel n. 14. Printemps / Été 2016. (Paris Ouest Nanterre) e editora científica da revista O Percevejo n. 10, e das revistas O Percevejo online 2009.2, 2012.1, 2012.2 e 2016.1. Organizou e coordenou cinco Seminários Nacionais, seis Jornadas Nacionais, quatro Congressos Internacionais (CAPES; CNPq e FAPERJ), um Seminário internacional e duas exposições Internacionais sobre arquitetura teatral, incluindo o Fourth International Conference on Architecture, Theatre, and Culture (FAPERJ-2022). Dirigiu os documentários Arquitetura Teatral Contemporânea no Estado do Rio de Janeiro e Patrimônio Industrial e Práticas Artísticas (Vencedores dos Editais Patrocínio Cultural CAU/RJ 2016 e 2020). Foi finalista e teve o projeto Temporary Open-Air Theatre at Unirio, realizado no Laboratório, exibido na Internacional Exhibition Our Theatre of the World (Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design, and Space 2019).
