N.V. Chemetov was born in the city of Angarsk, Russia. He has Bachelor's degree and postgraduate degree in Applied Mathematics at Novosibirsk State University - Russia (1978-1983). He holds a doctorate in Applied Mathematics from Novosibirsk State University (1989).
He worked at the scientific institutes of the Academy of Science of Russia (1983-1989). In the years 1991-1992 he carried out a research internship at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. From 1992 to 2018 he was a lecturer at Portuguese universities.
In the year 2018 defended the title of ´´Livre - Docência´´ at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, which is equivalent to the habilitation - aggregation titles. He is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Computation and Mathematics, University of São Paulo (Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto, FFCLRP-USP).
He was Editor of the Bulletin of the Portuguese Society of Mathematics and Honorary Editor of Fluid Mechanics Research International Journal. He is a reviewer of international journals, in particular: Alexandria Engineering Journal, Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, Nonlinearity, SIAM Journal of Mathematical Analysis.
He has experience in Mathematics, with emphasis on Partial Differential Equations. His research focuses on the modeling and the mathematical study of the movement of complex fluids: (in) compressible, (non-) Newtonian, biphasic, fluid in porous media.
Natural da cidade Angarsk - Rússia, cursou graduação do Bacharelado e pós - graduação do Mestrado em Matemática Aplicada na Universidade Estadual de Novosibirsk - Rússia (1978-1983). Possui doutorado em Matemática Aplicada pela Universidade Estadual de Novosibirsk (1989).
Trabalhou nos institutos científicos da Academia de Ciência de Rússia (1983-1991). Nos anos 1991-1992 realizou estágio de pesquisa na Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal. A partir 1992 até 2018 foi docente nas universidades portuguesas.
No ano 2018 defendeu o título de Livre - Docência na Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil. Actualmente é Professor Titular junto ao Departamento de Computação e Matemática da Universidade de São Paulo (Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Ribeirão Preto, FFCLRP-USP).
Foi Editor do Boletim da Sociedade Portuguesa de Matemática e Editor Honorário de Fluid Mechanics Research International Journal. É revisor de revistas internacionais, em particular: Alexandria Engineering Journal, Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, Nonlinearity, SIAM Journal of Mathematical Analysis.
Tem experiência na área de Matemática, com ênfase em Equações Diferenciais Parciais. Sua pesquisa se concentra na modelagem e no estudo matemático do movimento de fluidos complexos: incompressíveis, (não-)newtonianos, bifásicos, fluidos em meios porosos.
