Member of the Brazilian Study Group on Discourse, Identity and Poverty (CNPq), the Latin American Studies Association of Discourse (ALED), the Latin American Network of Discourse Analysis of Extreme Poverty (REDLAD). Member of the Journal of Language and Society (Papers on Language in Society), the Center for the Study of Language and Society (Nelis / UnB/Brasil). Member of the Interinstitutional Center for Research on Violence and Citizenship - NIEVCI, Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT). Chairman of the Study Group on the Language of the Midwest (GELCO) biennium (2012-2014). Member of the International Critical Realism Association. Member of Editorial Board of International Journal of Humanities and Cultural Studies (IJHCS).

Doutorado em linguística aplicada e estudos da linguagem (PUC/SP). Estudos doutorais na universidade de Lancaster (Reino Unido), sob a supervisão de Norman Fairclough (2003). Entre suas publicações constam: Prática pedagógica emancipatória: o professor reflexivo em processo de mudança (Pedro & Joao Editores, 2008); Formação crítica de educadores de línguas: desejos e possibilidades (Pedro & Joao Editores, 2010); Realismo crítico e emancipação humana: contribuições ontológicas e epistemológicas para os estudos críticos do discurso (Pontes Editora, 2015). É autora em conjunto com Marcio Beltrão do livro 'Transgressão como Prática de Resistência: um olhar crítico sobre os Estudos Queer e a Socioeducação' (EdUFMT, 2019). É organizadora juntamente com Danie M. de Jesus do livro "'What is Critical in Language Studies? Disclosing Social Inequalities and Social Injustice" pela Routledge (2020). Organizou também com Viviane de Melo Resende o livro intitulado "Coloniality in Discourse Studies: A Radical Critique" também pela Routledge (2023). Foi presidente do Grupo de Estudos de Linguagem do Centro-Oeste (GELCO), biênio 2012-2014. Coordenadora do NEPEL - Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisa Emancipatória em Linguagem - PPGEL/UFMT. Coordenadora do Grupo de Pesquisa Emancipatória em Linguagem do CNPq. Membro do grupo brasileiro sobre discurso, pobreza e identidade (CNPq), da Associação latinoamericana de estudos do discurso (ALED), da Rede Latinoamericana de estudos do discurso da Pobreza Extrema (REDLAD). Tem experiência na área de Letras, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: análise crítica do discurso, realismo crítico e formação crítica do professor.
