Dougal Alexander Jerram

Professor Dougal Jerram aka 'Dr Volcano', an award winning Earth Scientist (Murchison Fund, Geological Society 2006), author and TV/Media personality, with over 24 years post PhD experience. Dougal is also an adjunct professor at the Centre for Earth Evolution and Dynamics at the University of Oslo. Dougal has authored books, contributed over 95 peer reviewed papers, edited on key subjects, and undertaken fieldwork in an array of locations around the world. Media work includes on screen, live and pre-recorded TV and Radio, public speaking and popular writing. DougalEARTH-Consultancy/Research, offers a range of skills to help with exploration, research and development in some of the most challenging of areas. With specialization in volcanics, rock textures, rifted basins, field/regional geology and petrology. Help can be given as field workshops, specific and multi-client reports, training in volcanics, experienced field assistance, QC on volcanics issues, and geoscience consultancy via remote or in-house postings. Understanding Volcanic Margins - DougalEARTH brings experience from a variety of locations including; North Atlantic, South Atlantic (Paranã-Etendeka/Karoo), Antarctica, India, Ethiopia, Siberia, China, USA/Canada Australia. DougalEARTH-Media, provides science outreach through: TV/Film, Interviews, Lectures, and specialist researchMedia activities - Science Outreach and Popular Science Entertainment, appearing as Dr Volcano on the BBC?s ONE show, filming with Tony Robinson (aka Baldrick from Black Adder) on a series entitled ?The Birth of Britain? (National Geographic/Channel 4), Rowing down the Crand Canyon with Dan Snow in 'Operation Crand Canyon' (BBC/Discovery) and also presenting ?The Hottest Place on Earth? with Kate Humble (BBC1), where he was seen being lowered into the fiery furnace of one of the worlds most active volcanoes.
