Miriam Franchini
Miriam Franchini has a BSc degree in Biomedicine, a Masters in Microbiology and post- graduate training in Hospital Administration. During a career spanning over 35 years she has occupied inter alia the following positions: Head of the Pathology Laboratory and later Director of the Medical Biology Department at the Federal District Institute of Public Health (Brasilia), and Head of the Chlamydia Laboratory at the Department of Microbiology at University College Hospital in London (UK). For three times Miriam has the position as Laboratories Coordinator in the field of STD, Aids and Viral Hepatitis at brazilian Ministry of Health. Idealizer of Telelab, the STD-AIDS & Viral Hepatitis' online platform for diagnosis capacitarion. Great supporter of the adoption of self-testing for HIV in Brazil, with a key role in the negotiation with regulatory agencies in the country to regulate the HIV self-testing. At present, holds the position of senior consultant for the STD-AIDS & Viral Hepatitis Department in the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
graduation at Biomedicina from Centro Universitário Barão de Mauá - Jardim Paulista (1978) and master's at Biology from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1990). Has experience in Collective Health, focusing on Public Health, acting on the following subjects: diagnóstico, testes rápidos, ead, hiv and hepatites virais.
