I have passion for microbiology. During my PhD (dual diploma between TUDelft & Unicamp, with thesis defense in Delft, 2018), I conducted projects on yeast metabolic engineering (using CRISPR), fermentation and evolution in bioreactors (4 papers published as first author). The goal was to increase the energetic efficiency of sugar consumption in yeast. Now, in my posdoc with Kristala Prather at MIT, I am working on the other end of microbial engineering, i.e. product formation! The challenge is to increase glucaric acid titers in yeast and bacteria. During my PhD, I supervised 5 students and worked as representative of the PhD-students body both at TuDelft and Unicamp. As student representative, I was the president of the organizing committee of the First Bioenergy Symposium of the PhD Program in Bioenergy. Shortly after my PhD, I worked as researcher consultant for SENAI Biosynthetics (RJ). I received 6 prizes including the BBEST Award (1st place, doctoral student) in 2017.
