Miguel Guerrero Hernandez
I am currently researcher at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). I got my PhD in Chemistry from the Science and Technology of Materials program in June 2010 from UAB under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Josep Ros and Dr. Josefina Pons. After graduation, I did my first postdoctoral research at the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination (LCC; CNRS), in Toulouse, France (2010-2012). I was focused on the design and development of a new generation of multifunctional metal catalysts by the combination of the best features of supramolecular chemistry and nanotechnology. Later, I started my second postdoctoral research at the UAB's Department of Physics (up to now) focusing my activity, among others, on the synthesis of 3D hierarchically porous films by electrochemical means showing photoluminescence properties. Up to now, I have authored or co-authored over 30 articles and assisted both at national and international congresses. My current research interests include the design and organic synthesis of hybrid ligands for their use in supramolecular chemistry, stabilization of metal/metal oxide nanoparticles by organometallic approach and their deposition in different kind of supports (SiO2, TiO2, etc), and the study of the catalytic activity of these nanocomposites in hydrogenation, hydroformylation, C-C coupling and photocatalytic reactions. I am also currently involved in teaching activities in the Physics, Chemistry and Nanoscience & Nanotechnology degrees and in official master programs at UAB.
