Glauco Batista Ferreira

Glauco B. Ferreira is assistant professor of anthropology (as temporary faculty) at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) in Brazil. He is also graduate student & Doctoral candidate at the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology (PPGAS), at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. He works in social anthropology, with an emphasis in Urban Anthropology, focusing mainly on modes of subjectivity, arts, images and social movements. His main areas of research are in the visual arts, urban anthropology and anthropology of the contemporary. As research interests he has focused on the following themes: women's studies, gender and sexuality, feminist theory, intersectional theory and post-colonialism; contemporary social movements & the micro-political; artivism, film, media and representation; in the field of the arts he works with an emphasis on art education, also addressing public art propositions, relational, and participatory artistic practices. He has researched human and LGBT rights, focusing in contemporary modes of subjectivity in the context of LGBT pride events. Through ethnographic approach, his current research focuses on artistic productions of ?queer of color' artists and activists in San Francisco Bay Area (U.S.), having performed fieldwork with the Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project ? QWOCMAP during 2014. He is a Master in Social Anthropology by UFSC (2012) and was granted a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts (with Art Education Emphasis) by State University of Santa Catarina ? UDESC (2009), Brazil. Between 2013 and 2014 he was a Visiting Scholar Researcher at the University of California at Berkeley, Gender & Women's Studies Department, under Dr. Trinh T. Minh-há´s supervision. He was sponsored by Brazilian Funding agencies with scholarships on the following categories: CNPq (2009-2011), CAPES-REUNI (2012-2013), CAPES-PDSE (2013-2014) and CAPES (2013-present). He is part of the Research Group ?TRANSES? - Center of Contemporary Anthropology. He integrates the research network at the ?Instituto Nacional de Pesquisa Brasil Plural? (IBP) (National Institute of Research ?Plural Brazil?). Glauco has professional experience in the areas of anthropology, education and visual arts, performing educational workshops in cultural institutions, museums, NGOs and schools, developing qualitative research within and about different social issues, and has also participated as an artist in art exhibitions throughout the years. Têm experiência nas áreas de antropologia e de artes: leciona no ensino superior e desenvolve pesquisas de cunho etnográfico desde 2009; realizou ações educativas em espaços culturais, museus, ONGs e escolas ao longo dos anos 2000; além de participar em exposições de artes visuais, em publicações experimentais e em revistas acadêmicas.

É antropólogo, pesquisador e professor trabalhando em Goiânia, Goiás. É Professor Adjunto Classe C, nível 1, da área de Antropologia, na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais (FCS) da Universidade Federal de Goiás - UFG, onde coordenou o Curso de Ciências Sociais - Bacharelado Matutino (2020-2022). É docente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Antropologia Social e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Arte e Cultura Visual, ambos na UFG. Realizou pesquisa de Pós-Doutorado no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Arte e Cultura Visual da UFG (2017-2018). É Doutor (2017) e Mestre (2012) em Antropologia Social pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina - UFSC. Graduou-se em Artes Plásticas - Licenciatura em Educação Artística, pela Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina - UDESC (2009). Foi professor assistente substituto na área de Antropologia, na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais (FCS) da Universidade Federal de Goiás - UFG (2016-2018). Entre 2013 e 2014 foi Visiting Scholar Researcher, com estágio doutoral na University of California at Berkeley, Dept. of Gender & Women's Studies, com bolsa do PDSE/CAPES. Integrou o Núcleo de Antropologia do Contemporâneo (TRANSES/PPGAS/UFSC). É co-fundador e integra o LEX - Laboratório de Experimentações Etnográficas e Marcadores Sociais das Diferenças - CNPq/UFG. Integrou o Grupo de Pesquisa Cultura Visual e Educação (PPGACV/FAV/UFG) e participou como pesquisador no Ser-Tão - Núcleo de Ensino, Extensão e Pesquisa em Gênero e Sexualidade (FCS/UFG). Foi editor chefe da Revista Visualidades, da Faculdade de Artes Visuais da UFG (2018-2021). Foi Vice Coordenador do Curso de Ciências Sociais - Licenciatura (2018-2020) da UFG e coordenador da área de antropologia (2018-2020) da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais da UFG. Atua em linhas de pesquisa em antropologia urbana, antropologia das relações de gênero e das sexualidades, antropologia visual, antropologia da arte e das expressões estéticas. Desenvolve atividades de pesquisa, ensino e extensão em torno das seguintes temáticas: relações de gênero e sexualidades em conexão com outros marcadores sociais das diferenças; estudos feministas, teorias queer/cuír e pesquisas trans/travestis; micropolíticas, subjetivação e movimentos sociais; arte, política e ativismo; arte pública, relacional e colaborativa; cinema, mídia e representação; educação, arte e cultura visual.
