Jan Oliver Della Costa Stunkel
Oliver Stuenkel is an Associate Professor of International Relations at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) in São Paulo, where he coordinates the São Paulo branch of the School of History and Social Science (CPDOC) and the executive program in International Relations. He is also a non-resident scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC, a non-resident Fellow at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin and a columnist for The New Statesman and Americas Quarterly. His research focuses on rising powers; specifically on Brazil?s, India?s and China's foreign policy and on their impact on global governance. He is the author of the forthcoming IBSA: The rise of the Global South? (2014, Routledge Global Institutions), BRICS and the Future of Global Order (2014, Lexington) and Post-Western World: How Emerging Powers Are Remaking Global Order (2016, Polity).
His other publications include Rising Powers and the Future of Democracy Promotion (Third World Quarterly), India?s National Interests and Diplomatic Activism (LSE Ideas), Is Brazil the New Regional Champion of Democracy? (Americas Quarterly) and The Financial Crisis, Contested Legitimacy and the Genesis of intra-BRICS cooperation (Global Governance). He is the author of Institutionalizing South ? South Cooperation: Towards a New Paradigm? submitted to the UN High Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
Aside from his academic research, he has writtenop-eds for newspapers, including the New York Times (US), Global Times (China), Today?s Zaman (Turkey), Mail and Guardian (South Africa), Times of India, The Asian Age, The Hindu (India) and Folha de São Paulo, Valor Econômico, O Globo and Estado de São Paulo (Brazil). He regularly contributes to the Brazilian edition of The Huffington Post and The Diplomat magazine.
He was a Visiting Professor at the University of São Paulo (2010) and at the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi (2011, 2012), and a school teacher in rural Rajasthan in India (2006). In 2012 he was part of the Brazilian delegation at the track II meetings in New Delhi and Chongqing in preparation for the 4th and 5th BRICS Summits.
Oliver speaks German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and English. He holds a B.A. from the Universidad de Valencia in Spain, a Master in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he was a McCloy Scholar, and a PhD in political science from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.

Ele também é non-resident scholar no Carnegie Endowment for International Peace em Washington DC e non-resident fellow no Instituto de Política Pública Global (GPPi) em Berlim, e colunista do jornal The New Statesman e da revista Americas Quarterly. Sua pesquisa lida com potências emergentes, especificamente o Brasil, a Índia, a China e seus impactos sobre a goverança global. Ele é autor de IBSA: The rise of the Global South? Foi professor visitante na Universidade de São Paulo e na Escola de Estudos Internacionais da Universidade Jawaharlal Nehru (JNU), em Nova Délhi. Em 2012, fez parte da delegação brasileira nos encontros track II em Nova Deli e Chongqing em preparação para a 4a e 5a cúpula do BRICS.

Tem graduação pela Universidade de Valência, na Espanha, Mestrado em Políticas Públicas pela Kennedy School of Government de Harvard University, onde foi McCloy Scholar, e Doutorado em Ciência Política pela Universidade de Duisburg-Essen, na Alemanha.
