Marcelo Ramos Martins, Associate Professor of Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering Naval Engineer, MSc and PhD in Ocean Engineering, all from USP Escola Politécnica, University of São Paulo, Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Associate Professor of Reliability and Risk Analysis in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Graduate Program at the University of São Paulo, since 2001.Visiting Professor in the Reliability Engineering Graduate Program at University of Maryland, USA, between 2010 and 2011 and in the Garrick Risk Science Institute at University of California Los Angeles between 2018 and 2019. Coordinator of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Graduate Program at University of São Paulo. Coordinator of Program for Development of Human Resources from the Brazilian National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency. Member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering of the Ocean, organized by Offshore & Arctic Engineering Division from ASME. Member and former Technical Director of the Brazilian Association for Risk Analysis (ABRisco). Former Associate Editor of Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering. Acting as reviewer for international journals as Reliability Engineering & System Safety, Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, International Journal of Risk Analysis and Process Safety and Environmental Protection. Director and research leader of LabRisco (Analysis, Evaluation and Risk Management Laboratory) at University of São Paulo and project leader in R&D projects supported by industries and research foundations. Expertise: reliability, maintainability and availability of complex systems; human reliability analysis and quantitative risk analysis. Authored circa three hundred papers in journals, books, conferences and symposia and received the Brazilian National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Innovation Prize 2019.
Possui pós-doutorado na University of California - Los Angeles (2019) e na University of Maryland (2010); doutorado em Engenharia Naval e Oceânica (1999), mestrado em Engenharia Naval e Oceânica (1996) e graduação em Engenharia Naval e Oceânica (1992) pela Escola Politécnica da USP. Atualmente é Professor Associado da Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (USP); coordenador do Programa de Pós-graduação em Engenharia Naval e Oceânica da USP; coordenador do Programa de Formação de Recursos Humanos (PRH06) da Agência Nacional de Petróleo e Bio-combustíveis; membro do comitê científico do International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering da Ocean, Offshore & Arctic Engineering Divion da ASME; sócio fundador e membro da Associação Brasileira de Riscos (ABRisco). É revisor regular de diversos periódicos como Reliability Engineering & System Safety, International Journal of Quality, Statistics, and Reliability, Journal of Risk Analysis, Journal of Operational Research Society e Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industry. Tem experiência em Análise Probabilística de Risco, Confiabilidade, Manutenção e Segurança; Projeto de Navios e Sistemas Oceânicos e Dinâmica de Sistemas. Como coordenador e principal pesquisador do Laboratório de Análise, Avaliação e Gerenciamento de Riscos da USP (LabRisco) tem coordenado projetos de pesquisa e desenvolvimento financiados tanto por agências de fomento (CAPES, CNPq, FINEP e FAPESP) quanto por empresas do setor industrial, entre elas PETROBRAS, TRANSPETRO, REPSOL e VALE.
