Alberto Francisco Cabrera Casillas

Dr. Cabrera is a tenured professor at the Higher Education concentration at the University of Maryland. His research interests include the impact of the university on students, access to higher education, classroom experience, minorities in higher education, evaluation of educational policies in higher education, and the civic and social involvement of college graduates. He has received several awards, including: the 2016 Warwick Award, which recognizes exceptional research in the pursuit of university graduates, and the ASHE award for an exceptional career in research in the area of ​​higher education. In 2012, the Association of Educational Researchers (AERA) named him fellow AERA in recognition of his achievements in research in higher education. In 2015, the association of researchers in higher education (ASHE) awarded him the "mentor of the year" award in recognition of his efforts in promoting the academic career of junior researchers. In 2018, the Fulbright organization named him "Fulbright Specialist". Dr. Cabrera has been a member of the advisory councils in the USA and a member of the council of the Accreditation Agency of Higher Education of Aragón, Spain. He has also been a member of editorial board of the most prestigious journals of higher education in the USA (Journal of Higher Education, Research in Higher Education, Review of Higher Education and Journal of College Student Development) as well as in two Spaniard journals (Magazine Complutense of Education and EDUCATE). In 2009-10, under the Fulbright program, Dr. Cabrera worked with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and the Federal University of Santa Maria (Federal University of Santa Maria or UFSM) in developing performance indicators to evaluate the classroom development teaching and learning practices of students among Brazilian university students. He has also taught workshops and statistical methods courses for the study of college persistence in Chile, Mexico and Brazil. Dr. Cabrera has more than 60 publications which have been cited more than fifteen thousand times according to Google Scholar.
