Ivan Cruz

Pesquisador de carreira na EMBRAPA, contratado logo após sua graduação em engenharia agronômica. Desde 1974 desenvolve suas atividades na Embrapa Milho e Sorgo em Sete Lagoas, MG. Terminou seu mestrado (1980) nos EUA na Universidade de Purdue, onde recebeu a homenagem da Purdue chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta. Em 1986, terminou seu Doutorado na ESALQ/USP. Sua especialidade é manejo integrado de pragas com ênfase ao controle biológico, aplicado tanto na agricultura familiar como na agricultura comercial. Em Sete Lagoas, foi destaque na área de agronomia em 1991. Em 1997, recebeu como reconhecimento ao seu trabalho de pesquisa a "Comenda Dr. Bernardo Alves Costa". É bolsista 1 do CNPq na modalidade de "Produtividade". Em 2011 recebeu o título de ?Cidadania Honorária de Sete Lagoas, em reconhecimento ao seu trabalho aplicado ao desenvolvimento da cidade. Recebeu o prêmio ?Frederico de Menezes Veiga? em 2014, pelas suas pesquisas em controle biológico de pragas de milho. Foi presidente da Associação Brasileira de Milho e Sorgo (ABMS), por vários mandatos e criador da Revista Brasileira de Milho e Sorgo (1676-689X), sendo atualmente seu Editor chefe. É professor no curso de mestrado em Biotecnologia e Gestão da UNIFEMM, em Sete Lagoas, MG, responsável pelas disciplinas Biologia de insetos, Manejo Integrado de Pragas e Controle Biológico. No âmbito da Embrapa Milho e Sorgo foi chefe de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento e Chefe Geral. É membro do Comitê Gestor do Portfólio de Controle Biológico e no Arranjo sobre Manejo Integrado de Lepidoptera com ênfase a Helicoverpa. Participa de programas internacionais da Embrapa como o Cotton 4 em Mali e Prosavanas, em Moçambique. Linhas de Pesquisa: Controle biológico de pragas agrícolas, predadores e parasitoides.

Senior researcher in Brazilian Company of Agricultural Research (EMBRAPA), hired shortly after graduating in agronomy at the Federal University of Viçosa. Since 1974 develops its activities in the National Research Center for Corn and Sorghum of Embrapa in Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais. Finished his Masters (1980) in the United States of America at Purdue University, where he was honored by "Purdue Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta." In 1986, he finished his PhD in ESALQ / USP. His specialty is Integrated Pest Management with emphasis on biological control, applied to both the family farm and in commercial agriculture. In Sete Lagoas, As a result of its research work, Ivan Cruz was recognized as ?1991 agronomist of the year of Sete Lagoas?. In 1997, he received in recognition of his research work the "Dr. Bernardo Alves Costa Commendation". It is one scholarship from CNPq in the form of "Research Productivity". In 2011 he received the title of "Honorary Citizenship of Sete Lagoas, in recognition of his work applied to the development of the city. And in 2014 received the highest recognition by Embrapa through the "Frederico de Menezes Veiga" award for his research on biological control of pests of corn. Ivan Cruz was president of the Maize and Sorghum Brazilian Association (ABMS) for several terms and creator of the Brazilian Journal of Maize and Sorghum (1676-689X), currently its chief editor. He is a professor in the Master's degree program in Biotechnology and Management at UNIFEMM in Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais, responsible for three courses, Insect Biology, Integrated Pest Management and Biological Control. In the Embrapa Maize and Sorghum Ivan Cruz was head of Research and Development and Chief General. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Biological Control Portfolio and Arrangement on Integrated Management of Lepidoptera with emphasis on Helicoverpa. Participates in international programs such as Cotton-4 in Mali, Burquina Faso, Chad and Benin and Prosavanas 4 in Mozambique. Research Areas: Biological control of agricultural pests, predators and parasitoids.
