Maria Lembring
I am a molecular biologist with a PhD in Medical Science from Uppsala University, Sweden, December 2013. I have gained specialization in ancient DNA and forensic genetics (Forensic Molecular Biology) during my scientific career. I started my training in forensic genetics in 2007 at the department of Forensic Molecular Biology (FMB), Erasmus Medical Center, Erasmus University, Rotterdam in the Netherlands. I have then been working with ancient DNA/historical samples (mostly bones and teeth) at the department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology (IGP), Uppsala University, since 2008. In parallel I also regularly processed forensic samples for the Swedish Police. The materials I normally work with are compromised and challenging samples that often require mitochondrial DNA analysis in order to obtain results. The alternative markers in forensic genetics are my forte.
