Estefanía Sánchez Reyes
I obtained a degree in Biology (University of Salamanca), in 2003 (Environmental and Systems specialization), a period during which I was granted with a scholarship from the European Program for Mobility of Teachers and Students (Socrates Program) at the University of Swansea (Wales). Once I finished my undergraduate studies I enrolled in the doctorate course "Interés y Aplicación de los Vegetales Carpetanos" of the Department of Botany of the University of Salamanca, starting my research career by obtaining the Grado de Salamanca and the recognition of the Research Sufficiency in the Area of Botany, as well as the Diploma of Advanced Studies. This training was an excellent theoretical and practical basis in order to achieve the studies that finally allowed me to obtain a PhD in Biology in 2011.
Simultaneously to the completion of the Doctoral Thesis I was working as a scholar initially (years 2006-2009) and later as a Senior Researcher (2009-2013) at the University of Léon in various research projects in the field of Aeropalynology (airborne pollen and fungal spores). In 2014, I started my contractual relationship with the University of Salamanca as a Specialist Laboratory Technician in the SeedBank (BG-USAL) of the Spanish-Portuguese Institute for Agriculture Research (CIALE), having continued my relationship with that institution in the following years as a Senior Researcher (2016-2019) and as teaching and researcher member, Associate Professor, of the Department of Botany and Plant Physiology (2018), which has allowed me to expand my training in the field of Plant Conservation and Associate Professor at the Department of Didactics of Matemathics and Experimental Sciences of the Faculty of Education (2019). During 2018-2020 I was a Faculty Member of the Department of Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Sciences and Arts and the Departmental Area of Agroforestry and Environmental Science and Technology of the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences of the Catholic University of Avila. Currently, I am a Visiting Professor at the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (Portugal) and a researcher at the Spanish-Portuguese Institute for Agriculture Research (CIALE) of the University of Salamanca.
As a result of my research, I am a co-author of several publications in scientific journals with an impact index, together with book chapters, having presented numerous oral communications and posters at conferences both nationally and internationally which have allowed me to obtain the recognition of a period of six years on research work by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain, ANECA (2019).
Thus, I have participated as a teacher/speaker in numerous subjects and training courses at all levels, but mainly within the university, combining teaching and research in my professional curriculum since the beginning, which has allowed me to obtain (2018) the accreditations for Profesor Ayudante Doctor, Profesor Contratado Doctor (Associate Professor) and Profesor de Universidad Privada (Full Professor at Private University), by the Agency for the Quality of the University System of Castile and Leon (ACSUCYL).
