Jamir Afonso do Prado Júnior

I am a biologist, Msc. in Botany and PhD in Ecology and Conservation at the Federal University of Uberlandia (UFU), with a sandwich period at the Wageningen University (The Netherlands). I did two postdoctoral studies (CNPq and PNPD CAPES) aiming to evaluate the main drivers (biotic and abiotic) of biomass stocks in savanna communities, and the vegetation dynamics inf tropical forests affected by artificial reservoirs. I was a Visiting Professor at the Biology Institute of the Federal University of Uberlandia (UFU) between 2019 and 2021. I study Plant Ecology, focusing in Functional Ecology, Dynamics of plant communities, and remote sensing. The aim of my research is to understand the relationships between diversity (functional and phylogenetic) and the ecosystem services (e.g. biomass stocks and food supply for fauna), and to what extent climate change and land use can affect these relationships.

Sou biólogo, mestre em Botânica e doutor em Ecologia e Conservação de Recursos Naturais pela Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), com período sanduíche na Universidade de Wageningen (Holanda). Trabalho com Ecologia Vegetal, com ênfase nas áreas de Ecologia Funcional, Dinâmica de Comunidades e Sensoriamento Remoto. Desenvolvi dois pós-doutorados (CNPq e PNPD/CAPES) avaliando os direcionadores de estoque de biomassa e carbono em comunidades savânicas e a dinâmica de florestas afetadas por reservatórios artificiais. Fui Professor Visitante no Instituto de Biologia da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU) entre 2019 e 2021. Meus principais interesses envolvem as relações entre a diversidade (funcional e filogenética) e os serviços ecossistêmicos (biomassa e recursos para a fauna), e como a fragmentação e as mudanças climáticas e de uso do solo afetam estas relações.
