Debora Diniz Rodrigues

Debora Diniz is professor at the University of Brasilia and researcher at Anis - Institute of Bioethics. Currently, she is a board member do Research Project Review Panel (RP2) - Department of Reproductive Health and Research (RHR) da WHO; and board member of the Advisory Committee of Global Doctors for Choice/Brazil. Her research are about bioethics, feminism, human rights and health. In recent past, she was visiting researcher at the University of Leeds, Rio de Janeiro State University, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, University of Michigan, University of Toronto, University of Sophia and CERMES. She was granted with MacArthur Foundation scholarship in the end of the 1990's. She has 114 academic papers in peer review journals; 73 academic chapters; 10 books; 14 edited books; 153 newspaper articles and 6 documentaries. She is co-editor of the Developing World Bioethics Journal and other Brazilian journals. The films were exhibited in 136 festivals in 27 countries. She received 82 awards for her academic and filmic work. The most recent film about the psychiatric prisons in Brazil, The House of the Dead, received 25 awards. In 2012, in partnership with Marcelo Medeiros, she received the Fred L. Soper Award for Excellence in Public Health Literature/PAHO for the paper "Abortion in Brazil: a ballot box study".
É professora da Universidade de Brasília e pesquisadora da Anis - Instituto de Bioética. É pesquisadora visitante do Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies da Brown University, nos Estados Unidos. Desenvolve projetos de pesquisa sobre bioética, feminismo, direitos humanos e saúde. Foi pesquisadora visitante na University of Leeds, Reino Unido (Gender Studies); Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Instituto de Medicina Social); Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (Comunicação, Informação e Saúde); University of Michigan, Estados Unidos (Law Faculty); University of Toronto, Canadá (Law Faculty e Joint Center for Bioethics); Universidade de Sophia, Tóquio (Iberoamerican Institute); Cermes, França (Centre de Recherche, Médecine, Sciences, Santé, Santé Mentale, Societé); University of California at Berkeley, Estados Unidos (Sociology Department); University of Leiden, Holanda (Department of Anthropology); New York University School of Law, Estados Unidos (Hauser Global Law School Program); Yale Law School e Yale School of Public Health, Estados Unidos (Global Health Justice Partnership).
