I have acquired experience in biomedical research in which I have deliberated, applied and developed models based on data analysis, classification and data mining techniques. In particular, my research work has been focused towards glycemic control in type 1 diabetic patients, and critically ill patients. In my doctoral thesis, entitled Enfoques metodológicos para mejorar la precisión y fiabilidad de los sistemas de monitorización continua de glucosa en pacientes con diabetes tipo 1 y en pacientes críticos mediante técnicas lineales y no lineales which was recently defended, I worked specifically in developing algorithms to improve accuracy and reliability of Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems (CGMS). This has provided me with opportunities to explore different research tools such as system identification techniques (Autoregressive Models), statistical methods (Principal Component Analysis), supervised learning and pattern recognition techniques (Case-Base Reasoning and Support Vector Machines).
