Este trabalho é fruto de alguns anos de experiência e reflexões sobre a aproximação entre instituição escolar e organização comunitária. Para desenvolvê-lo, analisamos o programa de Ação Cultural implementado nos Centros Integrados de Educação Pública do estado do Rio de Janeiro, no primeiro governo de Leonel Brizola. Em nosso caso, no CIEP Avenida dos Desfiles/Passarela do Samba, no bairro do Catumbi e seu entorno, no período de 1984 a 1987. Na agenda de pesquisas da teoria política e educacional contemporânea, devemos incluir estudos sobre cultura em Gramsci, em alguns marxismos e sobre as teorizações do papel do Estado, da política educacional e da ação de classe, realizados por essa tradição cultural. O conceito de mediação cultural, advindo das ideias de Gramsci, foi fundamental para que o desenvolvimento do projeto da tese fosse conduzido pelas tensões entre teoria e prática, conforme propôs o pensador italiano. O que nos fez buscar a pesquisa como possibilidade é a interação possível entre o mundo da cultura e o da educação, para a transformação deste mundo em outro mais solidário. Assim, partindo de nossas inferências iniciais, levamos em consideração as dimensões políticas, econômicas e culturais, no que tange às ocorrências cotidianas relatadas por profissionais do CIEP, intelectuais, lideranças comunitárias e animadores culturais, buscando explicitá-las nessas dimensões e em suas relações com aquele momento histórico no Rio de Janeiro e no Brasil
This work is the fruit of some years of experience and reflections on the approximation between school institution and community organization. To develop it, we observe the Cultural Action program implemented in the Integrated Centers of Public Education of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in the first government of Leonel Brizola. In our case, in the CIEP Avenue of the Catwalks in the neighborhood of Catumbi and its surroundings, from 1984 to 1987. In the research agenda of contemporary political and educational theory, we must include studies of culture in Gramsci, some Marxisms and on the theories of the role of the State, of educational policy and of class action, carried out by this cultural tradition. The concept of cultural mediation, coming from the ideas of Gramsci, becomes fundamental so that the development of the thesis project is driven by the tensions between theory and practice as proposed by the Italian thinker. What makes us seek in research as a possibility is the possible interaction between the world of culture and education, for the transformation of this world into another more solidary. Based on our initial inferences, we take into account the political, economic and cultural dimensions of daily occurrences reported by CIEP professionals, intellectuals, community leaders and cultural animators, seeking to make them explicit in these dimensions and in their relations with the existing historical moment in Brazil and in Rio de Janeiro
