Durante a década de trinta, a comunidade judaica europeia foi assolada por um crescente antissemitismo, tendo como centro propagador de tais ideias o governo alemão de Adolf Hitler, que após 1933, ano em que subiu ao poder, foi colocando em prática gradualmente sua política racial, culminando com o genocídio de milhões de judeus. A cada medida antissemita implementada pelo governo alemão, aumentava o número de judeus que saiam do país em busca de asilo, porém, quanto mais crescia a demanda imigratória, maiores se tornavam as dificuldades destes imigrantes em conseguir um país que os abrigassem, pois medidas restritivas à imigração judaica foram impostas em vários países, inclusive no Brasil. Nesse trabalho refletiremos até que ponto a legislação imigratória (restritiva aos judeus e a intensa vigilância à comunidade judaica brasileira) imposta pelas autoridades do Estado Novo, foram frutos de uma ideologia antissemita inerente ao pensamento dos representantes desse governo.O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a postura do governo brasileiro em relação à imigração judaica, buscando entendê-la dentro do contexto nacional.
During the thirties, the European Jewish community was ravaged by an increasing anti-Semitism, which had the German government of Adolf Hitler as propagator center to such ideas. After 1933, year when Hitler ascended to power, he was gradually putting into practice his racial politics, culminating in the genocide of millions of Jews.In each anti-Semitic measure implemented by the German Government, the number of Jews who left the country seeking for asylum had increased, however, how bigger was the immigration demand, bigger became the difficulties these immigrants in finding a country that could harbor them since measures restricting Jewish immigration were imposed in several countries, including Brazil. This paper will reflect to what extent the immigration legislation (which was restrictive to the Jews and to the intense surveillance over the Brazilian Jewish community)imposed by the authorities of the Estado Novo, was the result of an anti-Semitic ideology inherent to the thought of this government's representatives.
