O presente trabalho de pesquisa propõe uma abordagem transdisciplinar como uma possível leitura da obra Fausto, uma tragédia, de Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, através de duas chaves de leitura: a primeira é a mitologia comparada, sob a perspectiva de Joseph Campbell, tendo como base seus conceitos de monomito e jornada do herói; a segunda é a filosofia de Plotino, filósofo neoplatônico, e suas ideias a respeito da jornada da alma de volta ao Uno. Ambas as chaves de leitura trazem uma visão ativa do desenvolvimento do indivíduo, ou da psique humana, o que seria, ao mesmo tempo, pré-requisito e meta do processo de individuação, sob a ótica do psiquiatra suíço Carl Gustav Jung. Assim, através do cotejamento entre passagens da obra de Goethe e a jornada do herói, desenvolvida por Campbell, e a jornada da alma, desenvolvida por Plotino, pretende-se apresentar o personagem Fausto como modelo de mito que busca desenvolver sua potência inata de autorrealização, tarefa que seria inerente ao ser humano em qualquer tempo ou local
The study here presented proposes a transdisciplinary approach with a possible reading of Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe’s work, Faust: A Tragedy, through two main keys to reading: the first is the compared mythology through Joseph Campbell’s viewpoint on monomyth and the hero’s journey. The second is Plotinus, neoplatonist philosopher, along with his ideas regarding the Soul and its journey to the One. Both keys to readings bring an active view of the subject’s development, or the human psyche, which would be at the same time, the prerequisite and the goal of the individuation process, through Carl Gustav Jung’s perspective. In this sense, through the comparative analysis of Goethe’s passages and the he-ro’s journey by Plotinus, it is intended to present the character Faust as a model of the myth that seeks to develop his innate power of self-realization, such task would be inherent to the human being in any time or place
