Essa dissertação tem como objeto de estudo a teoria de justiça como equidade do filósofo americano John Rawls. O foco de nosso trabalho é o contraste entre a versão universalista e a versão contextualista do liberalismo rawlsiano. Serão investigados dois modelos de apresentação dessa teoria: a concepção filosófica de justiça formulada na obra Uma teoria de justiça (1971) e a concepção política de justiça apresentada na obra O liberalismo político (1993). A pesquisa apresenta os principais conceitos e idéias da teoria de Rawls, sem esquecer as mais notórias objeções críticas ao seu projeto. Ao reconstruir o projeto rawlsiano, nosso objetivo é verificar a pertinência e coerência de uma interpretação universalista ou contextualista de sua filosofia, bem como a possibilidade de uma leitura inteiramente pragmática de sua concepção política de justiça.
This dissertation studies American philosopher John Rawls theory of justice as fairness. The focus is the contrast between the Universalist version and the Contextual version of Rawlsian liberalism. I will be investigating two models of this theory: the philosophic conception of justice formulated in the work A Theory of Justice (1971) and the political conception of justice presented in the work Political Liberalism (1993). The research presents the main concepts and ideas of Rawls theory, also mentioning the most notorious objections to his project. My objective as I reconstruct the Rawlsian project is to verify the relevance and coherence of a universalist or contextual interpretation of his philosophy, as well as to make it an entirely pragmatic reading of his political conception of justice possible.
