Este trabalho buscou analisar como a dinâmica de ocupação do município de Petrópolis influi para a formação de novos espaços de risco no município. Para tanto, as discussões que envolvem a relação sociedade e natureza são fundamentais para o entendimento da construção do risco, não só cunhado por suas características físicas, mas também revelando o envolvimento da sociedade como agente modificador do meio. Dessa forma, o conhecimento da organização espacial de determinada parcela do território é fundamental para o entendimento dos espaços de risco. Nesse sentido, elaborou-se uma análise bibliográfica do processo de evolução espacial da ocupação do município de Petrópolis, onde foram identificados os mais relevantes momentos de mudança da dinâmica de ocupação do município. A fim de verificar as alterações na dinâmica de ocupação do território petropolitano foram analisadas as mudanças de uso do solo, a partir de processamento digital de imagens, para os anos de 1995 e 2015, de maneira a identificar o crescimento de área antropizada sobre áreas de alta suscetibilidade. Ainda de forma a verificar a conexão de deslizamentos com a dinâmica de ocupação foi analisada a relação entre a dinâmica histórica de ocupação do município e a ocorrência de eventos de deslizamentos, constatando que as relações com a dinâmica de ocupação estão fortemente atreladas à densidade demográfica das diferentes áreas afetadas no município
This work was conducted in order to analyze how the occupation dynamics of the municipality of Petrópolis influences the formation of new risk areas in the municipality. Therefore the discussions involving the relationship between society and nature are fundamental to understanding the construction of risk, not only shaped by their physical characteristics, but also revealing the involvement of society as a environmental modifying agent. In this way the knowledge of the spatial organization of a specific area of the territory is fundamental for the understanding of the spaces of risk. Accordingly was produced a literature analysis of the spatial evolution process of the occupation of the city of Petropolis, where the most important moments of change of the city's occupation dynamics were identified. In order to verify the changes in the occupation dynamics of the Petropolitano territory were analyzed changes in land use, from digital image processing, for the years 1995 and 2015, in order to identify the disturbed areas of growth on areas high susceptibility. Also in order to verify the connection of landslides with the occupancy dynamics, the relationship between the historical dynamics of occupation of the municipality and the occurrence of landslide events was analyzed, thus confirming that the relations with the occupation dynamics are strongly linked to the density the different affected areas in the municipality
