A Escadaria Selarón, localizada no agora bairro da Lapa na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, carrega o nome do artista que vem realizando intervenções artísticas nela desde a década de 80. Desde essa mesma década, Escadaria e Lapa veem se transformando através de ações propostas pelos poderes governamentais e também por agentes da sociedade civil que, sozinhos ou em agrupações, entram no movimento de disputas e negociações dos usos, significados e representações desses espaços. O trabalho que segue trata de uma etnografia que procura mapear os atores envolvidos nessas disputas pela construção social desse espaço. Partindo da intervenção artística de Selarón sobre as escadas e de sua gestão sobre o espaço, busco fazer aproximações entre essas formas de gerir esse espaço com o que vem acontecendo na região da Lapa e da cidade como um todo. Essa etnografia foi realizada entre os anos de 2010 e 2012 guardando assim as marcas dessa temporalidade.
The Selarón Staircase, knows a Escadaria Selarón or Escadaria da Lapa , is located in the neighborhood of Lapa, in Rio de Janeiro, bears the name of the artist who has been performing artistic interventions in it since the 80's. Since that same decade, Escadaria and Lapa have been transformed by actions proposed by the powers Governmental organizations and also by civil society agents who, alone or in groups, enter into the movement of disputes and negotiations of the uses, meanings and representations of these spaces. The work that follows is about an ethnography that seeks to map the actors involved in these disputes for the social construction of this space. Starting from the artistic intervention of Selarón on the stairs and his management on space, I try to make approximations between these ways of managing this space with what has been happening in the region of Lapa and the city as a whole. This ethnography was carried out between 2010 and 2012, thus keeping the marks of this temporality.
