In this thesis, I seek to describe the narratives and trajectories of the struggle for housing of actors linked to the Union for Popular Housing of Rio de Janeiro, highlighting the conflicts and tensions that pervade the construction (or attempted construction) of housing cooperatives in the city. To fulfill this objective I bring three stories: the first one, Shangri-lá, built in the 90s, appears as a mythical narrative, concretized through a partnership with the Church and community mobilization. The second one, Esperança, inaugurated in 2015, is also an example to be followed, but in other ways: it was built through public funding from the federal MCMV Entities program. It is, therefore, another way of building cooperatives, and requires other forms of operation on the part of those struggling for housing. The third, Urban Warriors, due to the fact that they are in the process of organizing and in an even more complex political moment, is a story marked mainly by difficulties and uncertainties. Thus, the thesis seeks to start from the experience of Shangri-la, which has its story repeated under a perspective of strong appreciation for the past, passing through the contemporary experiences of the struggle for housing of these groups linked to the UMP-RJ in the region of Jacarepaguá, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
Nesta tese busco descrever as narrativas e trajetórias de lutas por moradia de atores vinculados à União por Moradia Popular do Rio de Janeiro, destacando os conflitos e tensões que perpassam a construção (ou a tentativa de construção) de cooperativas habitacionais na cidade. Trago para isto três histórias: a primeira, Shangri-lá, construída na década de 90, aparece como uma narrativa mítica e concretizada através de uma parceria com a Igreja e mobilização da comunidade. A segunda, Esperança, inaugurada em 2015, é também um exemplo a ser seguido, no entanto, em outros moldes: foi construída através de financiamento público oriundo do programa federal MCMV Entidades. Trata-se, portanto, de um outro modo de construir cooperativas, e exige outras formas de operar por parte daqueles que lutam por moradia. A terceira, Guerreiras Urbanas, por estar em fase de organização e em um momento político ainda mais complexo, é uma história marcada sobretudo, por dificuldades e incertezas. Assim, a tese busca partir da experiência de Shangri-lá, que tem sua história repetida sob uma perspectiva de forte valorização do passado, passando pelas experiências contemporâneas de luta por moradia destes grupos vinculados à UMP-RJ na região de Jacarepaguá, Zona Oeste do Rio de Janeiro.
