A Literatura ocupa um espaço reduzido nas aulas de Língua Portuguesa no segundo segmento do ensino fundamental. Sendo assim, este estudo tem por objetivo investigar práticas de leitura literária nesse período escolar e refletir sobre a contribuição do ensino da literatura na formação de alunos leitores. Para isso uma análise da presença da literatura nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais foi realizada, assim como um estudo que aponta para a necessidade da presença da literatura na escola. A partir disso, organizamos uma experiência, realizado em uma escola pública, com alunos de sexto ano do ensino fundamental, no qual propomos a leitura de uma série de contos, valorizando a leitura do texto literário como atividade principal. Além disso, planejamos as atividades buscando valorizar as leituras dos alunos, as emoções e sensações despertadas pelas leituras a fim de que, dessa forma, a literatura esteja presente nas aulas de Língua Portuguesa possibilitando a construção da subjetividade, o exercício de alteridade e o despertar da imaginação.
Literature finds little room in Portuguese Language classes in the second segment of brazilian elementary school. Therefore, this study aims to investigate literary reading practices throughout this school period and to show the benefits of literature teaching in the training of readers. For this purpose, an analysis of the presence of literature in the National Curricular Parameters was conducted as well as a study which evokes the need for literature teaching in the school. From that, an experiment was arranged and held in an public school with sixth-grade elementary school students, in which it was proposed reading a series of short stories, highlighting the literary text reading as the main activity. Additionally, the activities were planned with an attempt to add value to the reading performances of students and to the emotions and feelings aroused by the readings, so that literature may be a part of Portuguese Language classes as a tool that facilitates the construction of subjectivity, the exercise of alterity and the awakening imagination.
