João Paulo Machado de Araújo
Currently as a PhD Student in Biology at Pennsylvania State University (USA), with Science without Borders fellowship (Brazilian Federal Government Program). Working with Alpha-Taxonomy of Ophiocordyceps fungi that attacks mainly Ants, in the Amazon and Atlantic Forest.Had his MSc at Federal University of Amazonas - UFAM, was approved in 1st place in the Program of Biological Diversity. With the title: Diversity of Ophiordyceps on ants and patterns of infection related to environmental variables in the Ducke Reserve (Central Amazon). This work, conducted in partnership with Pennsylvania State University. Graduated in Biological Sciences by the Center for Higher Education of Juiz de Fora (2009). Acted in Botany, with emphasis on cryptogams and Taxonomy of Fungi. Has been a trainee at Embrapa Milk Cattle with CNPq Scientific Initiation Grant (2006 - 2009), working with plant physiology, soil fertility and forage selection of progenies. Research project held a scholarship by the Centre for Scientific Initiation of Higher Education of Juiz de Fora in Taxonomy of Agaricales.
Possui PhD em Biology pela Pennsylvania State University (2017), Mestrado em Diversidade Biológica pela Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM - 2012) e graduação em Ciências Biológicas pelo CES/JF (2009). Atualmente é Post-Doctoral Scholar na Pennsylvania State University e Pesquisador Colaborador na Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV). Micologista, tem experiência em Taxonomia, Sistemática e Evolução de Fungos, com ênfase em fungos entomopatogênicos e seus hospedeiros. É colaborador em projetos em diversas instituições nacionais e internacionais como UFSC, UFV, USCAR, UNILAB, Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia), Jimma University (Etiópia), Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (Gana), University of Southern Queensland (Australia), BioAsia (China), entre outras.
