Graduated in Medicine by the University of São Paulo and medical residency in Psychiatry by the Institute of Psychiatry of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sao Paulo. Bachelor of Philosophy from the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH) of the University of São Paulo. PhD from the Institute of Psychiatry of HC-FMUSP, on the stigma of mental illness. Member of the International Federation of Psychiatric Epidemiology (IFPE) and of the International Society for Research on Schizophrenia (SIRS), from which he received the Global Schizophrenia Award for international prominence in research on schizophrenia. Associate Editor of the Frontiers in Public Mental Health. He is currently a PhD and Masters Professor at the HC-FMUSP Institute of Psychiatry and act as Scientific Coordinator of the Psychoses Outpatient Service from the Laboratory of Neuroscience (LIM-27), Institute of Psychiatry, University of Sao Paulo.
