Nicolaus Linneu Arcturus de Pitombeira e Nogueira Holanda

Dr. Holanda is an experienced researcher working at the interface between industry and academia. He currently holds positions as Chief Data Scientist at Rio Analytics, as well as a research fellowship at the Quantum Information Group in the Brazilian Center for Research in Physics (CBPF) in Rio de Janeiro and the Quantum Materials Group in Cambridge, UK. He received his PhD from the Brazilian Center for Research in Physics, where he researched symbolic algebra approaches to physics beyond the Standard Model, and has since held Research Fellowships at CBPF and the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) in Rio de Janeiro, the latter investigating epidemiological forecasting of arboviral infections such as Dengue and Zika under a Fiocruz grant. He has also been a visiting researcher at the Quantum Materials Group in Cambridge, UK, where he investigated machine learning applications to the analysis of phase transitions. Dr. Holanda has led the Data Science team in Rio Analytics in several R&D projects related to condition monitoring and failure prediction in collaboration with companies such as BP, Braskem, Chevron, EDP, Ocyan and Repsol. He has also collaborated in R&D projects in CBPF, in partnership with Petrobras, developing quantum technologies for the oil and gas industry. His research involves applications of machine learning to failure prediction, epidemiological forecasting and materials science, the latter with an emphasis on phase transitions and topological materials, and the development of quantum algorithms for signal processing.
