Maria Lencastre recieved her B.Sc, M.Sc and D.Sc. in Computer Science at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. She was a visiting professor at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal for the 2008 academic year. She is professor of the University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil, since 2004. She was the head of Computer Engineering Department in 2010 and 2011.
She was the general co-chair of the 31 the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing, 2016-2018, and was secretary of the ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP) until April 2019.
Maria Lencastre was the General Chair of WER 2019 and PC Chair of Requirements Engineering-Track, part of ACMSAC, from 2008 to 2015 and 2018-2019. She was the PC Chair of Software Requirements Engineering Track on CIBse 2014, and also the Chair of the thematic track ?Quality in ICT Requirements Engineering? part of the 9th International Conference on the Quality of Information and Communications Technology. Maria Lencastre was the Tutorial Co-Chair of 21st IEEE International Requirements Engineering Conference (RE´13), and the Panel Chair at RE@Brazil?13. She was the Chair of the Thematic Track Quality in ICT Requirements Engineering, part of 8th QUATIC´12. She was the general chair of IDEAS 2008 ? 11th Ibero-American Workshop on Requirement Engineering. She was the chair of the seven editions of RE-Track (ACM-SAC?08 to ACM-SAC?15). She was the co-chair of Workshop on Requirement Engineering (WER´11) part of Cibse´11 in Rio Janeiro-Brazil. She was also a member of the local organizer committee of 6th Latin American Conference on Pattern Languages of Programming (SugarLoafPLoP´07). She is member of the program committee of several international events on the area.
Possui graduação em Informática pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) , mestrado e doutorado em Ciência da Computação pela UFPE. Foi Gerente do Departamento de Sistemas Computacionais da UPE em 2009. Foi Coordenadora do Curso de Engenharia de Computação (POLI - Universidade de Pernambuco) no período de 2010 a 2011. Foi coordenadora da especialização lato-Sensu em Engenharia de Software POLI. É professora adjunta do Programa de Engenharia de Computação da POLI-UPE desde 2004, do qual também fez parte até 2018 do Núcleo de Docentes Estruturante. Foi secretária do ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP) até Abril de 2019. Tem experiência na área de Ciência da Computação, com ênfase em Engenharia de Requisitos, Banco de Dados e Simulação. Realizou pós-doutorado na Universidade Nova de Lisboa em 2008. É membro da Pós-graduação em Engenharia de Computação da POLI-UPE. É a líder do Grupo do CNPQ de Engenharia de Software da UPE. Faz parte da Câmera de Inovação da FACEPE (Fundação de Amparo à Ciência e Tecnologia de Pernambuco) . É diretora Cultural do Gabinete Português de Leitura do Recife. É membro do conselho editorial do Applied Computing and Intelligence Journal. Atualmente é Co-chair da RE-TRack do ACM SAC´23. Foi co-chair da RE-TRack do ACM SAC´22 e co-Chair do WER´'22. Foi coordenadora Geral do WER´19 e coordenadora da Track de Poster e Demos da 26th Requirements Engineering Conference (RE´18, Canadá), e do Painel da Indústria do WER 2018 (RJ, Brasil). Foi co-coordenadora geral de programa de ACM Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC 2016, SAC 2017 e SAC 2018). Foi coordenadora de três edições da Thematic Track Quality in ICT Requirements Engineering, 8th e 9th 10th International Conference on the Quality of Information and Communications Technology (QUATIC´12, QUATIC´14 e QUATIC´16) que ocorreram em Portugal. Foi coordenadora dos Tutoriais da 21th Requirements Engineering Conference (RE´13) que ocorreu no Rio, Brazil. Foi organizadora do Painel da Indústria do ER@BR 2013, e fez parte da Organização Local do BRICS-CCI & CBIC 2013. Foi coordenadora da Thematic Track Quality in ICT Requirements Engineering, part of 8th International Conference on the Quality of Information and Communications Technology (QUATIC´12) que ocorreu em Lisboa, Portugal. Foi coordenadora geral do IDEAS'08, coordenadora das oito edições do RE Track parte do Annual ACM Symposium on Applied Computing . Foi chefe de programa do WER 2011 que faz parte do 25 -XIV CiBSE 2011 que ocorreu no Rio de Janeiro. Coordenadora Geral do I Workshop Desafios em Engenharia de Requisitos de Pernambuco (I WDPER).
