Rui Barbosa da Rocha

He holds a degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Bahia (1990) and a Master's degree in Social Sciences in Development, Agriculture and Society from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (1996). Professor of the Department of Agrarian Sciences of the State University of Santa Cruz, collaborator of the Professional Masters of the School of Environmental Conservation and Sustainability - ESCAS and founding partner and current president of the Instituto Floresta Viva. He teaches Regional Geography applied to the South of Bahia, Geography of Bahia and Geography of Brazil. Since 2015 he has been studying the potential of tropical forest restoration, together with the improvement of economic conditions in the region, in cooperation with the Federal University of Southern Bahia and Brown University. Researcher fellow of Laboratory of Energy and Climate Change of Colorado University - Boulder.

Possui graduação em Agronomia pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1990) e mestrado em Ciências Sociais em Desenvolvimento, Agricultura e Sociedade pela Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (1996). Professor do Departamento de Ciéncias Agrárias da Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz, colaborador do Mestrado Profissional da Escola Superior de Conservação Ambiental e Sustentabilidade - ESCAS e sócio fundador e atual presidente do Instituto Floresta Viva. Leciona Geografia Regional aplicada ao Sul da Bahia, Geografia da Bahia e Geografia do Brasil. Estuda desde 2015 o potencial de restauração de florestas tropicais aliado a melhoria das condições econômicas da região, em cooperação com a Universidade Federal do Sul da Bahia e a Universidade de Brown. Pesquisador fellow do Laboratório de Energia e Mudanças Climáticas - LEEP da Universidade de Colorado - Boulder.
