Rachel de Alcantara Augusto

Rachel Augusto is a PhD Candidate in Art History at NOVA University of Lisboa (Portugal) with specialization in Contemporary Art History. She has a master?s degree is Art and Culture at Leiden University (the Netherlands), and a bachelor?s degree in Museology at Universidade de Brasília (Brazil). Her current PhD research investigates postcolonial cultural transfers within the Portuguese-speaking world, specifically analysing how the artworks that approach colonial matters have mobilised issues of performativity. This seeks to question how artists can reflect on social and cultural preconceptions derived from colonial impositions on countries and communities, voicing their artivist intentions through the use of performativity. Moreover, she also has also researched forms of documenting intangible heritage from the museological perspective; usually, within the context of contemporary art.
