Ademilson Espencer Egea Soares

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1971), Master's degree (1975) and Doctorate (1980) in Genetics from the Medical School of Ribeirão Preto, USP. Professor of FMRP's undergraduate course and postgraduate programs in Entomology, FFCLRP and Genetics at FMRP, where he coordinated the PG Program for 13 years and was a member of the FMRP Postgraduate Commission for 10 years. He directed 29 master's dissertations and 20 doctoral theses. Published 302 abstracts in national and international congresses; 80 complete papers in indexed journals, being 31 in Brazil and 49 abroad. In 1990, within the project of Training of Teachers in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of USP, Dr. Walter Steven Sheppard, at the Beneficial Insects Laboratory, USDA-ARS, Beltsville, Maryland, on "Methods for the analysis of bee mitochondrial DNA". In 2006 he received a "Senior Internship Abroad" grant from CNPq and went to the Department of Entomology, University of Minnesota, USA, under the NSF-funded "The role of olfactory mediated cues in resin collection by honey bees". Coordinated by Dr. Marla Spivak. In 1987, the Regional International Organization for Agricultural and Livestock Health (OIRSA), based in El Salvador, CA, through the Regional Program for the Management and Control of Africanized Bees, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). This project resulted in the publication of ten books, among which "Crianza de Reinas de Abeja melífera ccidental", of which I am one of the authors, and which was recognized and awarded the Gold Medal at the XXXII International Apimondia Beekeeping Congress held in Rio de Janeiro, in October of 1989. The activities were related to the advisory services and training courses in several Central American countries. I am a member of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo and a member of the Scientific Technical Commission of the Brazilian Confederation of Apiculture (CBA), having participated in the organization of several national congresses and regional meetings. Since 2003 and annually we have given the Cultural Diffusion Course: Bees for the Best Age, by the Pro-Rectory of Culture and Extension, within the program Open University to the Third Age. I have experience in Genetics, with emphasis on Animal Genetics, working mainly on the following subjects: control and prevention of accidents with Africanized bees, genetic improvement, instrumental insemination, biology and genetics of Africanized bees and stingless bees, beekeeping and Meliponiculture. Possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade de São Paulo (1971), mestrado (1975) e doutorado (1980) em Genética pela Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, USP. Professor do Curso de graduação da FMRP e dos programas de Pós-graduação em Entomologia, FFCLRP e em Genética da FMRP, onde foi coordenador do Programa de PG por 13 anos e membro da Comissão de Pós-graduação da FMRP por 10 anos. Orientou 29 dissertações de Mestrado e 20 teses de Doutorado. Publicou 302 resumos em congressos nacionais e internacionais; 80 trabalhos completos em revistas indexadas, sendo 31 no Brasil e 49 no exterior. Em 1990 dentro do projeto de Capacitação de Docentes em Biologia Molecular e Biotecnologia da USP estagiou com Dr. Walter Steven Sheppard, no Beneficial Insects Laboratory, USDA-ARS, Beltsville, Maryland sobre: ?Methods for the analysis of the bee mitochondrial DNA?. Em 2006 recebeu do CNPq uma bolsa ?Estágio Sênior no Exterior? e fui para o Department of Entomology, University of Minnesota, USA, dentro do projeto: ?The role of olfactory mediated cues in resin collection by honey bees?, financiado pelo NSF e coordenado pela Dra. Marla Spivak. Em 1987 o Organismo Internacional Regional de Sanidad Agropecuária (OIRSA) com sede em El Salvador, CA através do Programa Regional para el Manejo y Control de la Abeja Africanizada, financiado pelo Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), abriu um edital para profissionais especializados em abelhas africanizadas. Deste projeto resultou na edição de dez livros, entre os quais ?Crianza de Reinas de Abeja melífera ccidental? do qual sou um dos autores e que foi reconhecido e agraciado com Medalha da Ouro, no XXXII Congresso Internacional de Apicultura da Apimondia, realizado no Rio de Janeiro, em outubro de 1989.As atividades estavam relacionadas com as assessorias e cursos de capacitação em vários países Centro Americano. Sou membro da membro da Academia de Ciências do Estado de São Paulo e membro da Comissão Técnica Científica da CBA (Confederação Brasileira de Apicultura) tendo participado da organização de vários congressos nacionais e encontros regionais. Desde 2003 e anualmente ministramos o Curso de Difusão Cultural: Abelhas para a Melhor Idade, pela Pró-Reitoria de Cultura e Extensão, dentro do programa Universidade Aberta a Terceira Idade. Tenho experiência na área de Genética, com ênfase em Genética Animal, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: controle e prevenção de acidentes com abelhas africanizadas, melhoramento genético, inseminação instrumental, biologia e genética de abelhas africanizadas e abelhas sem ferrão (ASF), apicultura e meliponicultura.
