Jefferson Luis Braga da Silva

I graduated in Medicine from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) in 1988, and then moved to France, where I did my resident physician in hand surgery and reconstructive microsurgery for 4 years at the Jeanne D?arc Hospital in Nancy, the Institut Français de la Main in Paris, and the Clinic du Parc in Strasbourg. Following this, I returned to Brazil and opened the hand and microsurgery service at PUCRS Saint Lucas Hospital in Porto Alegre. In 1997, I finished my master?s in Neurosciences at PUCRS University. In 1999, I became a specialist in Hand Surgery from the Federation of the European Societies for Surgery of the Hand, FESSH. I was full professor at Pucrs University from 2000 to 2021. In 2000, I was awarded a doctoral degree in hand surgery by the Federal University of Sao Paulo, and in 2005, I completed my post-doctorate in hand surgery at the same institution. In 2004, I was elected President of the Brazilian Society of Microsurgery. In 2007 I was elected President of the Brazilian Society of Hand Surgery. In 2010, I received an ?Award of Merit? by the scientific contribution to French Society of Hand Surgery. In December 2012, I was made Dean of the Faculty of Medicine ? PUCRS, a position I held until May 2020. In 2014, I joined the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. In 2014, I received the PROSE Awards for ? The Art of Microsurgical Hand Reconstruction, Chapter Title: Adipofascial Flap Finger Coverage, The American Publishers Awards for Professional and Scholarly Excellence. In 2015, I obtained a Scholarship for Research Productivity from the CNPq-Brazil, which I hold until today. In 2019, I was awarded the title of honorary citizen of Porto Alegre. In the same year, I received the certificate of achievement in the Basic Robotic Surgical Course from the Advent Health Nicholson Center, USA. Again in 2019, I was elected President of the Latin American Federation of Hand Surgery. In 2021 I was elected delegate of FLACM for the IFSSH. I was member of Editorial Board: Orthopedic Research and Reviewers; Cytotherapie; Annales de Chirurgie de la Main; Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy and Journal of Hand Surgery (European). I have 5 trademarks and patents in Hand surgery and nerve regeneration. I developed 02 APPs: Microsurgery Intuitive and Hand Surgery Tips. I have 156 articles published in the MEDLINE database and have written 50 book chapters, as well as two books on hand surgery, ?Trauma in Hand Surgery? and ?Techniques of Microsurgery?. I have given presentations at numerous International Congresses (462) including The American Congresses of Hand Surgery, IFFSH Congresses and the French Congresses. I have written two books on hand surgery, ?Trauma in Hand Surgery? and ?Techniques of Microsurgery?. I supervised 59 Master, Doctoral Theses and 3 post-doc theses. I supervised 29 students a specialization course (Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery). I mentored 82 students from the School of Medicine (PICRS University) in scientific research. My areas of interest are: hand surgery, peripheral nerve, brachial plexus, trauma, reconstructive microsurgery.
