Márcia Maria Fusaro Pinto

Doutora em Educação Matemática pela Universidade de Warwick, na Inglaterra, e mestre em Matemática pela UFMG, onde foi docente do programa de Pós Graduação em Educação, da Faculdade de Educação. Atualmente é professora no Instituto de Matemática da UFRJ. É membro do Programa de Pós Graduação em Ensino de Matemática e do Grupo de Pesquisas Matemática no Ensino Superior e Tecnologias. Foi membro do comite internacional do International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education no período 2008 a 2012. Na pesquisa, tem interesse por abordagens socioculturais na psicologia da educação matemática e sobre tecnologias na educação matemática.
Márcia Maria Fusaro Pinto is a professor in the Mathematics Department, at Institute of Mathematics (IM), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and in the Graduate Program in Mathematics Teaching (PEMAT/UFRJ). She is a PhD in Mathematics Education graduated at The University of Warwick, England, and a Master in Mathematics by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where she was a professor in the Mathematics Department and in the Graduate Program in Education, Faculty of Education. She was a member of the International Committee of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education from 2008 to 2012, and the president of the 34th Conference of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education (PME34), Belo Horizonte, hosted at the UFMG in 2010. Her research focus is on mathematics classroom practices and technologies and on students? conceptual change and development, with a special interest in sociocultural approaches to the psychology of mathematics education. In particular she is interested in those mathematics departments? initiatives in Brazil concerning the democratization policies of the tertiary education level, such as embracing the distance education model implemented in Brazilian universities and the challenges of expanding the university system. She is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Studies in Mathematics Education, and a reviewer of the International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education, of Acta Science and of Revista Educação Matemática em foco, having a long term experience as a reviewer of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education (PME).
