Full professor of the Faculties of Chemistry and Biology of the University of Havana Full professor at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the Higher Technical Institute José Antonio Echeverría (CUJAE), Havana. Senior Researcher, Head of the Division of Physical Chemistry (12 years) and Vice-Director for Biomedical Research (12 years) of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) from September 1981 up to October 2014. Pioneer of the introduction and application of mass spectrometry in Cuba from 1970. Co-founder of the Cuban biotechnology, 1981. Design of laboratories for peptide and protein analysis and chemical synthesis of the CIGB. Founder and head of the groups of mass spectrometry, protein analysis and proteomics of the CIGB from 1986. Successful application of mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques for establishing the production processes of recombinant proteins and characterization of the final products. 1986-2014. Application of proteomics for research, determination of the mechanism of action and identification of possible secondary effects of new products developed in the CIGB (1998-2014). Organizer and professor of several international courses on proteomics, mass spectrometry and chromatography. Member of the Board of Government of the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO http://www.hupo.org/leadership/ ).Full member of the Cuban Academy of Sciences. Member of the National Jury for evaluation of PhD Theses in Chemical Sciences. Member of the Board of the Cuban Chemical Society.
