Carlos Arthur Mattos Teixeira Cavalcante

Associate Professor at the Federal University of Bahia. He holds a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA/1985), MSc degree in Production Engineering from the Coordination of Graduate Programs in Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE-UFRJ/1987). PhD in Production Engineering by the University of São Paulo (USP/1999), Visiting Professor and Post-Doctorate by the University of Birmingham - United Kingdom (UoB/2011). He was the Coordinator of Initiation of Research, Creation and Innovation of UFBA in the Pro-Rectory of Research, Creation and Innovation (PROPCI/UFBA), where he served as coordinator of the Institutional Programs for Scientific and Technological Initiation Grants (PIBIC-PIBITI/UFBA), and the Coordinator of the Sciences Without Borders Program (CsF/UFBA). He was a member of the Management Committee and administrative coordinator of the Program of Proficiency in Foreign Language for Students and Staff of UFBA (PROFICI/UFBA). He was Deputy Coordinator of the Undergraduate Course in Production Engineering (CCEP/UFBA), Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM/UFBA), Coordinator of the Undergraduate Course in Mechanical Engineering (CCEM/UFBA) and Coordinator of the Graduation Program in Production Engineering (PPGEP/UFBA). He coordinated research projects in partnerships with other institutions (PETROBRAS, FAPESB, CNPq, among others). Has implemented and coordinated the Laboratory of Integrated Production Systems (LABSIP/UFBA) and the Laboratory of Prototyping in Mechatronics (LPM/UFBA). Has coordinated and ministered classes in specialization courses. He is a professor of the Post-Graduation Program in Industrial Engineering (PEI/UFBA) and the Post-Graduation Program in Mechatronics (PPGM/UFBA), working in the areas of Processes and Products Development and Manufacturing Integration. He is a supervisor to PhD and masters students in developing research lines of modeling and optimization of decision-making processes, production and operations management, decision support systems, information technology, automation, quality and industrial organization, among others.

Graduado em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade Federal da Bahia (1985), mestrado em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1987), doutorado em Engenharia de Produção pela Universidade de São Paulo (1999), pós-doutorado e professor visitante na University of Birmingham ? United Kingdom (2011). Professor Titular da Universidade Federal da Bahia, exerceu as funções de Coordenador de Iniciação a Pesquisa, Criação e Inovação da Pró-Reitoria de Pesquisa, Criação e Inovação (PROPCI/UFBA), Coordenador do Programa Ciências sem Fronteiras (CsF/PROPCI/UFBA), Coordenador do Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Científica (PIBIC/PROPCI/UFBA), Coordenador do Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Tecnológica e Inovação (PIBITI/PROPCI/UFBA), Coordenador do Laboratório de Sistemas Integrados de Produção (LABSIP/UFBA), Chefe do Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica (DEM/UFBA), Coordenador do Programa de Pós-Graduação (Mestrado) em Engenharia de Produção (PPGEP/UFBA) e Coordenador do Colegiado do Curso de Graduação em Engenharia Mecânica (CCEM/UFBA). Participou e/ou coordenou projetos de pesquisa em parceria da UFBA com outras instituições (FAPESB, CNPq, PETROBRAS, dentre outras). Ministrou aulas e/ou coordenou cursos de especialização. É professor do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia Industrial (PEI/UFBA) e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Mecatrônica (PPGM/UFBA), atuando nas áreas de Engenharia de Produção, Engenharia Mecânica, Mecatrônica, Automação, Tecnologia da Informação e Divulgação Científica. É orientador de estudantes de mestrado e doutorado nas linhas de pesquisa de ?desenvolvimento de processos e de produtos?, especialmente nos temas: integração da manufatura, tecnologia da informação, desenvolvimento de sistemas de apoio à decisão, modelagem e otimização de processos decisórios, gestão da produção e planejamento e controle da produção, dentre outros.
