Adail Sebastião Rodrigues Júnior

Adail Sebastião Rodrigues-Júnior is an Ọmọ Òrìṣà and a Full Professor of Translation Studies at the Department of Letters of the Federal University of Ouro Preto, Brazil. He is also a psychoanalyst and holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics. In 2012 he was a visiting professor at the Catholic University of São Paulo, during his sabbatical period in which he carried out research on literary translation under the supervision of Professor Leila Barbara. Under the general umbrella of Applied Linguistics, his academic interests focus on 1) the interface between literary linguistics and translation, and 2) the study of Afro-Brazilian narratives. He supervises research on the following issues: literary translation, comparative stylistics, comparative grammar, Afro-Brazilian narratives, linguistic anthropology, discursive practices, and interactional sociolinguistics.

Adail Sebastião Rodrigues-Júnior é professor Titular de Estudos da Tradução do Departamento de Letras da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, ọmọ òrìṣà, psicanalista, mestre em Linguística (2002) e doutor em Linguística Aplicada (2006), tendo realizado pesquisa no campo da Sociolinguística Interacional e Umbanda (mestrado) e da Linguística Literária e Tradução (doutorado). Em 2012, fez estágio pós-doutoral no Programa de Estudos Pós-graduados em Linguística Aplicada e Estudos da Linguagem (LAEL) da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, sob a supervisão da Professora Leila Barbara. Sob o amplo guarda-chuva da Linguística Aplicada, seu foco de pesquisa centra-se na linguística literária e tradução e nos estudos de narrativas afro-brasileiras. As palavras-chave que sintetizam seu universo acadêmico são: tradução literária; estilística comparativa; gramática comparativa; narrativas afro-brasileiras; linguística antropológica; práticas discursivas; sociolinguística interacional.
