Antonio de Padua Braga

Antonio de Padua Braga is a Full Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering at the UFMG School of Engineering, where he began his career in 1988 as Teaching Assistant. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering (1987) and a master's degree in Computer Science (1991), both from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. His doctorate was obtained at the University of London, Imperial College, Department of Electrical Engineering, in 1995, in the field of Recurrent Artificial Neural Networks. He was Visiting Professor (Research) in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada and at the University of Paris-East, France. He has published 80 articles in indexed international journals and has supervised 24 PhDs and 44 masters so far since he began his postgraduate work in 1996. He is co-author of the book Artificial Neural Networks, whose second edition was published in 2007 by Editora LTC. His area of ​​interest is mainly Theory and Applications of Artificial Neural Networks. Within this large area, its interest is quite broad, ranging from fundamental aspects such as the development of learning algorithms to the most diverse applications, such as industrial process modeling and Bioinformatics. He is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Computational Intelligence and Applications, of which he was co-editor-in-chief and founder. He has served on program committees of several national and international conferences. Coordinated two international cooperation projects with European universities, one of them within the CAPES-COFECUB agreement with the University of Paris VI, France, and the other within the CNPq-FNRS agreement with the Catholic University of Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve) , Belgium. He was associate editor of the Journal IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (2014-2021) and currently serves as associate editor of other journals, such as Pattern Recognition, Neural Processing Letters and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Antonio de Padua Braga é Professor TItular do Departamento de Engenharia Eletrônica da Escola de Engenharia da UFMG, onde começou sua carreira em 1988 como Professor Auxiliar de Ensino. Possui graduação em Engenharia Elétrica (1987) e mestrado em Ciência da Computação (1991), ambos pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. O seu doutorado foi obtido na Universidade de Londres, Imperial College, Departamento de Engenharia Elétrica, em 1995, na área de Redes Neurais Artificiais Recorrentes. Foi Professor Visitante (Pesquisa) no Departamento de Ciência da Computação da Universidade de Alberta, Edmonton, Canadá e na Universidade de Paris-Leste, França. Publicou 80 artigos em periódicos internacionais indexados e orientou até o momento 24 doutores e 44 mestres desde que começou sua atuação na Pós-Graduação em 1996. É co-autor do livro Redes Neurais Artificiais, cuja segunda edição foi publicada em 2007 pela Editora LTC. A sua área de interesse é, principalmente, Teoria e Aplicações de Redes Neurais Artificiais. Dentro desta grande área, o seu interesse é bastante amplo, indo desde aspectos fundamentais como o desenvolvimento de algoritmos de aprendizado até as mais diversas aplicações, como modelagem de processos industriais e Bioinformática. É membro do corpo editorial do International Journal of Computational Intelligence and Applications, do qual foi co-editor chefe e fundador. Tem participado de comitês de programa de várias conferências nacionais e internacionais. Coordendou dois projetos de cooperação internacional com universidades européias, sendo um deles dentro do acordo CAPES-COFECUB com a Universidade de Paris VI, França, e o outro dentro do acordo CNPq-FNRS com a Universidade Católica de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve), Bélgica.
