Graduated in Electronic Engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (1992) and Doctorate of Science in Human Physiology from the University of São Paulo (1998). Joined the Space Life Sciences Training Program - National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA-SLSTP); Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and Senior Research Fellow at King's College London and Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital - Boston. Member of the Neurobiology Commission of the International League Against Epilepsy (NBC-ILAE) and President Elect to the Brazilian Physiological Society (2023). Currently holds a position as an Full Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais: Group lider Nucleo de Neurociencias (NNC-http://www.nnc.ufmg.br) and Director of the Center of Technology and Research in Magnetic Resonance (CTPMAG-http://www.nnc.ufmg.br/CTPMAG) . President of the Brazilian Physiological Society (2023-2024). Research in Physiology, with emphasis on neurophysiology, mainly in the following subjects: neural networks, epilepsy and electrophysiology.
Possui graduação em Engenharia Eletrônica pelo Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (1992) e doutorado em Ciências (Fisiologia Humana) pela Universidade de São Paulo (1998). Fez treinamento em Ciências da Vida Espacial, Space Life Sciences Training Program - National Aeronautics and Space Administration (SLSTP-NASA), foi Visiting Scholar na University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, Senior Research Fellow no King's College London e Research Fellow da Harvard Medical School/ Massachusetts General Hospital - Boston. Membro titular da Neurobiology Commission da International League Against Epilepsy (NBC-ILAE) e Presidente Eleito da Sociedade Brasileira de Fisiologia (mandato de 2023). Atualmente é Professor Titular da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais: Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa Núcleo de Neurociências (NNC - http://www.nnc.ufmg.br) e Diretor do Centro de Tecnologia e Pesquisa em Magneto Ressonância (CTPMAG - http://www.nnc.ufmg.br/CTPMAG). Presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Fisiologia (2023-2024). Tem experiência na área de Fisiologia, com ênfase em neurofisiologia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: redes neurais, epilepsia e eletrofisiologia.
