Holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1988), a Masters in Genetics and Molecular Biology -UFRGS (1991) and a PhD in Immunology - UFRGS and University of Colorado (1995). Worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the National Jewish Center for Immunology in Colorado, in autoimmunity, at the Universities of Minnesota,in T cell memory; and UCSD in San Diego, in anti-viral memory. For 20 years was a Professor at PUCRS in Immunology, coordinating the Laboratory of Immunology of Stress. She Is currently Full Professor at UFCSPA, coordinating the Immunotherapy Lab and an Assistant Researcher in the Department of Surgery of the School of Medicine of UCSD, USA. Works in vaccine development, tumor immunology, viral immunology, transplants, and immunotherapy. Coordinates Center 14 of the Phase III Clinical Study of an Attenuated Vaccine for Dengue Virus. Since 2011 he has been a member of the Board of the Cell Stress Society International. Atua em desenvolvimento de vacinas, imunologia tumoral, imunologia viral, transplantes, e imunoterapia. Co- coordena o Centro 14 do Estudo Clinico Fase III da vacina atenuada para Dengue Virus. Desde 2011 pertence ao Conselho da Cell Stress Society International. Desde 2020 é membro dos comitês cientifico e clinico da Sociedade Brasileira de Imunologia.
