Nelson Ferreira Fontoura

BS in Biological Sciences, emphasis in Zoology, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1985), MSc in Zoology from the Federal University of Paraná (1987) and Ph.D. in Zoology from the Federal University of Paraná (1993). Currently professor and director of the Institute for the Environment of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. Has experience in the area of ecology, with emphasis on Aquatic Ecology, working mainly in the areas of growth, reproduction and occupation of habitat for crustaceans and fish, and fishing and fisheries management .

Bacharel em Ciências Biológicas, ênfase em Zoologia, pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1985), Mestrado em Zoologia pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1987) e doutorado em Zoologia pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1993). Atualmente é professor Titular e Diretor do Instituto de Meio Ambiente da da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul. Tem experiência na área de Ecologia, com ênfase em Ecologia Aquática, atuando principalmente nos temas de crescimento, reprodução e ocupação de habitat de crustáceos e peixes, além de pesca e gestão pesqueira.
