Jaime de Souza Júnior

Doutor em Linguística Aplicada com ênfase transdisciplinar na circulação (trans)midiática e comunicação multimodal das noções de 'fato', 'verdade', 'fake', 'crença', 'memes' e sua relação com repertórios de (re)interpretação em contextos de conflito e/ou crises. Estuda como a mobilização desses repertórios, através da linguagem e em associação com o domínio da tecnologia digital e das mídias, opera a (des)construção semiótico-discursiva de eventos, sujeitos e alteridades nesses contextos, que podem ser 'micro' (por exemplo: conflitos direcionados por in/disciplina/s em salas de aula ou ambientes onde agrupamentos sociais diversos são rastreáveis) ou 'macro' (i.e. guerras e/ou crises bio/geopolíticas) . Em parte do doutorado, atuou como Academic Visitor na University of Leeds (Reino Unido). Tem interesse na relação entre Discurso, Tecnologia Digital, Mídias e produção/circulação/(re)interpretação de significados. Como acadêmico, atua no segmento editorial (inter)nacional, nas áreas das Humanidades e das Ciências Sociais. Como autor, tem histórico de publicação atualmente no Brasil, Reino Unido e Alemanha. Como pesquisador, é um dos membros fundadores da International Association for Discourse Studies e encontra-se associado ao Núcleo de Estudos em Discurso e Sociedade (NuDes/UFRJ). Como professor, tem experiência no ensino de línguas, análise e preparação situada de material de ensino, atendendo, inclusive, alunos com necessidades especiais de aprendizagem linguística (i.e. surdez, autismo e deficiência intelectual). He holds a doctoral degree in Applied Linguistics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, Brazil) and, as an academic visitor under the supervision of Emeritus Professor of TESOL Michael Baynham, he has developed part of his doctoral research at the University of Leeds (UK). His current transdisciplinary research interests include the transmedia circulation and the multimodal communication of notions such as ?fact?, ?truth?, ?fake?, 'belief' and ?memes?. He has been studying how, through a network of media screens, such notions and their relation with repertoires of (bio-/geo-)political (re-)interpretation, through language and in associations with the domain of digital technology and the media, operationalise the (re-)forging of events, subjects and alterities in contexts of conflict and/or crisis. Such contexts may be either 'micro' (e.g. in/disciplinary conflicts in classrooms or elsewhere, where diverse social assemblages can be observed) or 'macro' (i.e. wars and/or bio/geopolitical crises ). His research interests include: Discourse, Digital Technology, (Social) Media, Power/Resistance, Meaning-making, circulation and meaning (re)interpretation,. As a scholar, he works in the (inter)national editorial segment, with a focus on the Humanities and Social Sciences. As an author, his trajectory of publication includes countries such as Brazil, the United Kingdom and Germany. As a researcher, Jaime is one of the founding members of the International Association for Discourse Studies and is currently associated to Núcleo de Estudos em Discurso e Sociedade (NuDes/UFRJ Research Group). As a teacher, he has been teaching Portuguese as a mother tongue and English (EFL/ESP/EAP ? academic reading and academic writing, with a focus on the Humanities and Social Sciences).
