O Prof Arturo Forner-Cordero, se formou em Ingeniería Superior de Telecomunicaciones pela Universidade Politécnica de Valencia, Espanha (1993), doutorado em Mechanical Engineering (Biomechanics) pela Twente University of Technology nos Países Baixos (2003) e pós-doutorado na Katholieke Universiteit Leuven em Bélgica (2005). Em 2006 ganhou um prestigioso contrato Ramón y Cajal em Espanha. Atualmente é Professor Livre-Docente na Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo, e dirige o Laboratório de Biomecatrônica do Departamento de Engenharia Mecatrônica e Sistemas Mecânicos. Suas linhas de atuação em pesquisa e desenvolvimento tecnológico envolvem os seguintes temas: Biomecatrônica, Biomecânica, Biorobôtica, Controle Motor e Sono. É Senior member da IEEE, Editor Temático de IEEE EMBC, Chair do IEEE EMBS Sul-Brasil e Vice Chair do IEEE RAS Sul-Brasil. Foi Chair do Biorobotics Technical Committee da IEEE EMBS.
Publicou mais de 50 artigos científicos em periódicos internacionais e mais de 85 artigos em congressos, foi co-autor de 11 livros e de duas patentes além de participar em múltiplos congressos como palestrante, convidado ou organizador. Foi coordenador científico do projeto europeu ESBiRRo desenvolvendo o controle da marcha de um robô bípede e um exoesqueleto de membro inferior. Em 2014 presidiu a organização do IEEE BioRob, o evento mundial mais importante sobre Biomecatrônica e Biorrobôtica.
Orientou alunos de formatura, mestrado e teses de doutorado sobre o estudo do controle motor humano, robôs e exoesqueletos. Atualmente, coordena vários projetos para o estudo do controle motor dos membros superiores e inferiores com fundos nacionais e internacionais além de participar no Núcleo de Apoio a Pesquisa da USP Núcleo de Estudos Avançados em Reabilitação (NEAR). É Editor Associado de periódicos do IEEE (IEEE JTEHM, IEEE TMR-B e anteriormente do IEEE LATAM) assim como Theme Editor da IEEE EMBC.
Prof. Arturo Forner-Cordero, graduated in Telecom Engineering (MSc Eng) at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain (1992), obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Biomechanics) from Twente University of Technology in the Netherlands (2003) and was Post-Doc at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium (2005). In 2006 he won a "Ramón y Cajal" grant for the CSIC in Spain. Prof Arturo Forner Cordero is Associate Professor at the Department of Mechatronics Engineering and Mechanical Systems of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paul. He is also the Head of the Biomechatronics Laboratory. The lines of activity in research and technological development involve different aspects of Biomechatronics, Biomechanics, Biorobotics and Motor Control. He has published more than 40 papers in international journals, co-authored 10 books, filed two patents and participated in multiple conferences as speaker, guest or organizer. In 2014 he organized the conference of the IEEE BioRob the most important global event on Biomechatronics and Biorobotics that after Europe, the US and Japan took place in Brazil. Currently, Prof Forner-Cordero coordinates several projects for the study of motor control of the upper and lower limbs with national funds (CNPq) and international as well as participating in the USP research group of Advanced Studies in Rehabilitation (NEAR).
