Born on the 23rd of January 1980 in Hamburg, Germany as son of Regina and Henrich Pöhls. Interrupted only by a half-year stay in the United States of America he frequented school in his hometown. After graduation in the summer of 1999 he performed eleven month of civil service in the hospital Klinikum Nord in Hamburg. In October 2000 he initiated his studies of Architecture at the Technischen Universität Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig, Germany. From January 2005 till March 2006 he studied Architecture at the Facoltà I at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, and graduated from his alma mater in 2007.Already as student he started to work fulltime in the Studio Camerana&partners at Turin, Italy, where he was occupied until november 2008. His work inside the studio Camerana&Partners included various international competitions for projects in Germany, Switzerland, Spain as well as in Italy. The projects varied from masterplanning, institutional and educational buildings to a housing projects and infrastructural projects.In November 2008 he transfered to Porto Alegre, Brazil and started to attend the Master course in Architecture at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). During the elaboration of his master thesis, entitled "Evaluation of the brazilian legislation regarding its influence on the indoor thermal comfort of office buildings in Porto Alegre", he worked in the LABCON laboratory. During his studies he was able to publish two articles and participated in the organization of one event. He presented one work at an international conference and was able to participate in numerous events, workshops and conferences in Brazil. Under the orientation of Prof. Heitor da Costa Silva he concluded his studies in November 2012 and obtained the title of Master in Architecture from the above mentioned institution.In parallel to the academic career, he had the opportunity to expand his professional experience and to gain an inside view of the architectural situation in Brazil. Since his arrival in Porto Alegre he collaborated with several offices and participated in projects and competitions with diversified scopes. To name just a few: Burger Arquitetos, with whom I have participated in the construction of industrial plants and offices; Hype Studio, with whom I have participated in a competition for a hotel complex in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Braga+Pöhls Arquitetos, office of which he became partner in 2011.During his stay in Brazil I have also become consultant for vovendis eco-consulting & development, a company with base in Hamburg, Germany, that is working on the technology transfer to South America.In March 2013 he stated his doctoral studies at the PROPAR program of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Oriented by Professor Benamy Turkienicz the research inside the SimmLab group is focused on the integration of performance tests and evaluation via digital models into the architectural design process. Further, he was able to collaborate in various projects inside the research group of my orienting professor. All works have focused on the integration and improvement of digital tools during the first phases of the architect´s design process. In December 2015 he qualified his thesis proposal and pretends to conclude his studies until March 2017.
