Luis Raul Weber Abramo
I graduated in Physics at the Universidade de São Paulo, and I have a Ph. D. in Physics from Brown University (1997). I was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Florida, and at the Ludwig-Maximilians Universität (Munich, Germany). I have also been a visiting fellow at Princeton University and at the University of Pennsylvania. Presently I am a Full Professor (Prof. Titular) of Physics at the Departamento de Física Matemática, Instituto de Física, Universidade de São Paulo. My work started in theoretical cosmology, inflation and cosmological perturbations. More recently I have been working on phenomenological and observational aspects of cosmology and astrophysics, especially those related to astrophysical surveys. My main current topics of research include the structure formation, galaxy evolution, photometric redshifts, quasars, dark matter, dark energy and modified gravity. I have been involved with astrophysical surveys for a few years, and since 2018 I am a member of the Collaboration Board of J-PAS, as the representative from USP. I am also committed to popularizing science through appearances dedicated to the general public in schools, universities, museums, libraries, and inter-disciplinary events.
