Carlos Frederico de Sá Volotão

Creative, flexible, adaptable, detail-oriented, impartial, and positive Engineer with a strong STEM background. Analytical thinking and levelheaded in carrying out the tasks received. Proactive and always producing results with depth and high quality. B.S. in Geomatics Engineering which incorporates aspects of Civil and Computer Engineering achieved at the Military Institute of Engineering. After obtaining the Masters in Remote Sensing the technical activities became more focused on the development and research in the area related to machine learning, computer vision, pattern recognition, and target identification. The work in the military Agency of the Army for national mapping was done assuming head positions in technical sections at an increasing level. Started teaching several classes in 2010, and then, in 2013, awarded Ph.D. in Computer Science. Started to teach undergraduate and graduate classes related to remote sensing, photogrammetry, image processing, artificial intelligence, artificial neural networks, and scientific research methodology. Was the coordinator of a graduation program, headed a section, and advised the students. This work included directing the faculty, and to be an assessor of the Dean. Administrative experience included being beyond Head of the Cartographic Engineering Department, and Graduation Coordinator, to be the Editor-in-Chief of the RMCT (Brazilian Army Scientific Journal), be the Vice-Rector Adjoint in the Teaching and Research Division, which is the division responsible for all courses in undergraduate, graduate, research, and entrance exams for students and faculty. With 30+ years of experience in simultaneous administrative, technical, and scientific activities, led groups of military and civilians, students, professors, and employees, in sections and departments, carried out teaching, leadership, coordination, and research activities, and retired as a colonel.
