Nelson Augusto dos Santos Junior

Biologist, graduated in 1996, with a master's degree in forestry engineering (2000) and a doctorate in biological sciences (2005). Between 2000 and 2004, he taught disciplines in the areas of ecology, botany and the environment at Mackenzie Presbyterian Universities, Grande ABC and Camilo Castelo Branco. He is Scientific Researcher VI at the Environmental Research Institute, where he has held the following positions: Technical Advisor to the General Directorate (2006 to 2008), Director of the Seed Research Center (2008 to 2011) and Director of the Ecology Research Center and Physiology (2011 to 2015). He is leader of the IPA research group "Restoration of Degraded Areas" and professor of the IPA Postgraduate Program in Plant Biodiversity and Environment. In this program, he acts as a master's and doctoral advisor, is responsible for the discipline "Biology of seeds of tropical species" and currently acts in the coordination of the course. He is the area editor for Hoehnea and Rodriguesia magazines. It operates in the areas of ecophysiology of forest seeds and restoration of degraded areas.

Biólogo, formado em 1996, com mestrado em engenharia florestal (2000) e doutorado em ciências biológicas (2005). Entre 2000 e 2004, lecionou disciplinas nas áreas de ecologia, botânica e meio ambiente nas Universidades Presbiteriana Mackenzie, do Grande ABC e Camilo Castelo Branco. É Pesquisador Científico VI do Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais, onde já ocupou os seguintes cargos: Assessor Técnico da Diretoria Geral (2006 a 2008), Diretor do Núcleo de Pesquisa em Sementes (2008 a 2011) e Diretor do Centro de Pesquisa em Ecologia e Fisiologia (2011 a 2015). É docente do Programa de Pós-graduação em Biodiversidade Vegetal e Meio Ambiente do IPA, onde atua como orientador de mestrado e doutorado e é responsável pela disciplina "Biologia de sementes de espécies tropicais". É editor de área das revistas Hoehnea e Rodriguesia. Atua nas áreas de tecnologia e ecofisiologia de sementes florestais nativas.
